The Final Stretch For Production I.G's "Kick-Heart!"

About two weeks ago, we at Propeller Anime began our push to support "Kick-Heart," a unique anime project created by the famous production I.G with Masaki Yuasa as the the director. This would be the first anime to ever be crowd funded, using kickstarter as it's primary means of donations.

Since then, the project has succeeded in not only being funded, but it's even reached it's first stretch goal! But we're not done yet, folks! At midnight tonight, there is still one more stretch goal and it's a significant one!

Six Years Later, We're Stronger Than Ever!

What you see above is the very flyer for the first ever Propeller Anime event that occurred on this day six years ago. A whole lot different from what we use now to promote. We didn't even have a webpage or any social media going yet. Not even a logo!

It's funny to look back on that and remember that The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya used to be a thing and that Death Note had just started airing in Japan. We never did show Castle of Cagliostro on that day due to lack of availability and nobody who attended that meeting ever ended up being a longtime member.

Except me, that is.

Help fund Production I.G's "Kick-Heart," dammit!

Our full #AFO13 schedule!

Huzzah! We have received word of when our events will take place at Anime Festival Orlando 13! AFO will be at the Wyndham Orlando Resort on International Drive and Sandlake Road from August 3rd to 5th.

We have been working hard to have everything prepared for your enjoyment! Each of us know our anime(and for one of us, tokusatsu) pretty well and our goal is to get excited about the anime and topics we will be presenting.

In addition to our events, there are other thing to see that we'll post next week!

Make sure you follow us on Twitter(using hashtag #AFO13) and Facebook for weekend updates! Below is our full schedule.

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Field trip! We're going to Spirited Away at the Enzian! (7/29)

Great news! We mentioned last week that Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away would be playing at The Enzian in Maitland on Sunday, July 29th(and also on the 31st). It seemed unlikely that those of us who plan events for Propeller Anime would be available to help organize a group to go see the movie.

But it turns out Shane O'Mac actually is available! That's great news! This means we can organize a carpool with people that go to our events. It would also rule if we could help fill the theater for the only anime to ever win an Oscar. RSVP on Facebook!

RE: Anime Nite Dating Game & Future Events

Every second Friday of the month we host Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy, an event that's main objective is to show great anime to the public of Orlando.

Once in a while, we try to have a non-viewing event to change the pace a bit and to bring in a new crowd. Sometimes, those events don't turn out as well as we expected them to and audibles have to be called.

AFO 13 Online Registration ends tomorrow!

Propeller Anime Show & Tell on Sunday, May 20th

We just had a twisted night with Uncle Go! When updating our schedule, we saw and remembered that we are supposed to show anime on Sunday, May 20th at 2:30PM at A Comic Shop in The Geek Easy!

We've been busy planning Anime Nites, convention events, and other cool stuff that this slipped from our notice. With a week away, what would we do?

Well, with Propeller Anime run by their own version of "Mr. Excitement," we decided to give a shot at "People Power." What does that mean? You bring in something cool and we'll probably show it.

Sunday, May 6, 2012

TWO Chances To Win Florida Anime Experience Passes!

If you happen to be in Orlando over Memorial Day weekend, the Florida Anime Experience would be a cool thing to check out. In it's inaugural year, it drew about 1,000 fans and it's expected to grow in its sophomore year.

Their guest of honor is Terri Hawkes, who is the original English voice of Sailor Moon. This is her FIRST time making an appearance at a convention in the United States! Other notable guests are Dan Woren, David Guilbeau, and our friends at Anime Addicts Anonymous.

We're talking about Florida Anime Experience not only because it's coming up, but because we have not one, but TWO free weekend passes for that show that we'll be giving out at our Friday the 13th Horror Costume Party tomorrow night at A Comic Shop! (Thanks for hooking us up!)

We said we would have a costume contest and a prize raffle at the party, set for around 10pm. The winner of the costume contest will receive one of the passes and our grand prize for the raffle will be the other pass. Raffle tickets will be a $1 each and proceeds go toward funding the party and future events we will have! Pretty sweet, right?

In addition to that, we'll have some other prizes to raffle as well along with free cake and beer! It's going to be a fun party and we hope to see you tomorrow!

RSVP on Facebook

Friday the 13th Horror Costume Party!

In April, on Friday the 13th, Propeller Anime is hosting a horror-themed costume party at A Comic Shop! You are invited and we'd love to see you all come out as we'll have treats, games, drinks, prize raffles, and a costume contest! RSVP on Facebook.

The party and all the festivities are free but we will be taking donations if you wish to support this party and other future Propeller Anime events. Those who donated will be entered in a raffle drawing for prizes later that night. (Learn how to win a pass to Florida Anime Experience here!)

If you are thinking of costume ideas, there are a lot of great choices! Off the top of our heads, there's Vampire Hunter D, High School of the Dead, Darkstalkers, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Higurashi, and Hellsing. If you don't have a costume, throw on some fake blood and torn clothes and say you're a zombie!

If you've been to some of our events this year, then you know that a Propeller Anime party is a blast! The party starts at 8PM and A Comic Shop is located at 114 S. Semoran Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792.

Propeller Anime meeting 3/24 @ A Comic Shop!

We've had some fun times since we've moved to A Comic Shop. It's probably one of the best things to happen to Propeller Anime and for anime fans in the area. We've met a lot of cool people and we're happy to have you!

We'll have a meeting on Saturday, March 24th at 3:00PM to watch some cool anime and announce the details for Friday the 13th horror-themed costume party in April.

For those who do not know where A Comic Shop is, it's located at 114 S. Semoran Blvd. Winter Park, FL 32792.

The Survivors of the Anime Apocalypse

Give these brave men and women a mighty round of applause because they did indeed survive the anime apocalypse! We threw Apocalypse Zero, M.D. Geist, and Violence Jack at them and they took it all in like champions!

Thank you all for coming out last night! We hope you had fun. (It certainly looked like it!) We've been doing anime events at A Comic Shop for a little over a year and with great patience we've seen a lot of growth. It really feels like we are forming our own community here and that will lead to more awesome events in the future.

We have a meeting on Saturday, March 24th at 3PM at A Comic Shop. The plan is to show a classic Mamoru Oshii film by the name of Patlabor.

Not only that, Patlabor will be paired up with a short OVA known as Trava Fist Planet. It's set in the same universe as REDLINE and is also directed by Takeshi Koike! We'll have more details up in a future post!

Our next Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy will be on Friday the 13th in April! We're thinking of having a costume party with some horror anime shown and treats to eat. We'll need some help planning the party so if you are down with that, come out on the 24th!

Anime Nite: NOBODY Survives the Anime Apocalypse! 3/9/12

This Friday, March 9th at 8PM at A Comic Shop will be the darkest, most terrible Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy we've ever hosted! NOBODY Survives the Anime Apocalypse!

The event is free and we'll have some beer to share with those over 21. You can bring some too so it lasts longer! You must also have your I.D. because we will not be letting minors in.

This will be a night of morally bankrupt anime centered around the fall of society. The earth is in ruin; there are no heroes and their is no hope. What we are showing is explicit in content and not for the feint of heart.

You have all been warned! If the content does not bother you, then we hope to see you this Friday! A Comic Shop is at 114 S. Semoran Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792. RSVP on Facebook.

You can like Propeller Anime on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and keep us in your Google+ circles!

In-between all that we had a packed panel called "10 Anime Classics Everyone Should See." The panel name is self explanatory and out goal is to get anime fans to try out classic anime that is still great to watch even now.

Here is our list of stuff to check out:

Thanks for coming to MegaCon! We're not done yet!

Propeller Anime would like to thank you for coming out to MegaCon this year! It was a blast for us and we hope you enjoyed the anime event track!

We hosted events such as the Quickdraw! Contest, Iron Cardboard Robot Cosplay, Karaoke Party, Mecha Anime Theater, and the Ninja Olympics.

These events were are well attended and it was awesome to see so many people come out and participate! We'll have pictures of these events and winners to announce soon!

Not only that, we had panels such as "Real Robots vs Super Robots," "10 Anime Classics Everyone Should See," "The Twisted World of Go Nagai," and "It's MANIME! Fist of the North Star!"

It was awesome to work with Anime Sushi, Anime Spot, Anime Addicts Anonymous, Anime World Order, and Funimation. We also want to thank Discotek Media for sponsoring our Fist of the North Star panel.

Most of all, we would love to thank our volunteers for making sure all our events did well this past weekend!

But wait, there's more!

We have an event each weekend for the next three weeks? Why? Because we are crazy and we love you guys!
