Orlando Anime Day this Saturday!

A couple times a year, Orlando Anime Day occurs as a one-day anime market place. There is a vendor room, as well as some game setups, raffles, and panels. It's not really a traditional anime convention, but for $5, it's not a bad time. Plus, a lot of us are there so that makes it fun.

The next one is this Saturday, February 2nd at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. We'll do lunch at the nearby Red Robin at 1:30pm. Orlando Anime Day is a pretty chill time and we look forward to seeing you!

Field trip! We're going to Spirited Away at the Enzian! (7/29)

Great news! We mentioned last week that Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away would be playing at The Enzian in Maitland on Sunday, July 29th(and also on the 31st). It seemed unlikely that those of us who plan events for Propeller Anime would be available to help organize a group to go see the movie.

But it turns out Shane O'Mac actually is available! That's great news! This means we can organize a carpool with people that go to our events. It would also rule if we could help fill the theater for the only anime to ever win an Oscar. RSVP on Facebook!

An update on the Hard Knocks field trip.

Hey everyone!

The Propeller Anime Club is hosting a "field trip" to Hard Knock Orlando and Florida Oriental Trading this Sunday. We will be leaving from Full Sail Building 3B at 12:30 p.m.

So we've learned that gaming at Hard Knocks is free all day for Full Sail students with a valid ID from Sundays through Thursdays this month. Yesterday, it came to my attention that there is another stipulation that you may not like. In order to enjoy the free gaming at Hard Knocks, you have to be a registered member. Some of you already are and have nothing to worry about. However, myself and others will have to sign up in order to play. The Defcon 4 membership is $10 and the Defcon 3 membership is $25 semi-annually.

We are planning another trip to Hard Knocks in February for combat laser tag, so there is some value to getting the pass. I hope this new development does not affect anyone's plans. If you cannot afford to pay for a Hard Knocks membership, please let me know and I'll see what can be done!

See you this Sunday!

Hard Knocks and FOT field trip!

We will be doing a club field trip on Sunday, January 17th to both Hard Knocks Orlando and Florida Oriental Trading!

Hard Knocks Orlando is doing a special for Full Sail students(with student IDs) that allows us to play free console and PC games from Sundays-Thursdays all day in January.

Hard Knocks is located at 5707 Dot Com Ct. Oveido, FL.

Florida Oriental Trading is an anime and asian merchandise store located in downtown Orlando. They are closing this month but will be open Fridays-Sundays from 1pm to 6pm.

Florida Oriental Trading is located at 1217 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32803.

So we shall go to both on Sunday! Hard Knocks opens at 1pm so we will meet at Full Sail University in front of building 3B and at 12:30 p.m. leave in a caravan of vehicles. We'll game at Hard Knocks until about 4pm, have food somewhere nearby, and then travel to Florida Oriental Trading for some shopping and Pocky-eating!

Fun times will be had and all are welcome! For more information about the Propeller Anime Club, check us out at http://propelleranimeclub.blogspot.com!

Orlando Japan Festival 2009! This Sunday!

Last December, the Propeller Anime Club took a trip to the Orlando Japan Festival and it was awesome! Lots of good food was feasted on, and we saw many performances and demonstrations that celebrated Japanese culture.

We plan to go again as this year's Orlando Japan Festival will be held this Sunday, November 8th from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in The Village at Hunters Creek on John Young Parkway. We'll be carpooling there as a club and we will be meeting early on Sunday to do so. We'll be meeting in front of FS3B and leaving around 11:25 am for the event. We'll take I-4 west to get to John Young Parkway.

The event is free, but there will be vendors selling kimonos, art, food, candy, and other Japanese products. They only take cash so make sure that you have some in case you want to by something. At some point during the day, we'll have lunch as a club at the nearby indoor Japanese restaurant. If you are on a budget and just want to hang out, that's cool. I am sure some of our convention buddies from Megacon and AFO will be seeing us at some point!

Also, it's totally okay to wear a kimono to this event if you got one!

Much fun will be had and I hope to see you all this Sunday!

Three year anniversary photos!

Sunday, October 25th was when we celebrated the three year anniversary of the Propeller Anime Club! The founding date was on October 22nd in 2006. It's been a fun three years with many adventures and stories to tell, along with many strong friendships formed!

I am really happy with how the club has grown so far and I hope that we continue to prosper in the future! Our get together was a mix of eating sweets, sharing stories, watching awesome anime, and even taking a trip to the local Florida Oriental Trading anime shop that is in downtown Orlando.

Fun times were had and here are some pictures:
