Dodgeball Before Dishonor recap!

Yesterday, we gathered at Ward Park to play some dodgeball! It was a modest turnout but it was a lot of fun and great exercise. We had enough people to form two solid teams and change the lineups around a bit to keep things fresh.

(Next time we should invite people who wouldn't want to play but wouldn't mind chasing dodgeballs that go out of bounds!)

We'd like to do this again with a bigger turnout. It was a really great day out to play and we don't get a lot of those in Florida. We have a gallery with more photo on our FaceBook that you can check out here.

We'd love to do this again in the future, and perhaps we will after we wrap up all our events at MegaCon. Propeller Anime will be having their first meeting at A Comic Shop on January, 28th at 4PM so we'll talk about these things and more so make sure you come out!

Propeller Anime's stance with A Comic Shop on the "Robama" ad

Hello good people that have an interest in animation produced in Japan. If you have been active on anime news sites in the past 48 hours, then by now you have seen A Comic Shop's controversial "Robama" ad that was targeted at manga owners in attempt to get them to try out first issues of DC's new lineup of comics.

Many readers of the stories posted about the "Robama" ad feel many things, mostly negative. One of the biggest accusations is that A Comic Shop as disdain for anime and manga fans and would like to hurt those businesses. That is simply not true.

Since last March, Propeller Anime has hosted monthly events known as "Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy" at A Comic Shop. On Saturday, January 28th, we will begin hosting our monthly meetings there as well.

We have been welcome with open arms into A Comic Shop. They have promoted us at their store very well and they have let us run events our own way. Moreover, they've treated our event attendees with the same level of courtesy and respect as all others who have entered their store.

A Comic Shop, since establishing the event space known as "The Geek Easy," have reached out to many fandoms and have put on events for fans of comic books, videogames, table top games, cosplay, burlesque, nerdcore, and have asked Propeller Anime to host their anime events.

While A Comic Shop knows the comic book market very well, they have not put a lot of research into what appeals to fans of anime and manga. They have a form of marketing that works well with getting attention and sales from comic book fans. Unfortunately, they released an ad that did not go over well with those audiences do to their lack of knowledge.

We know that A Comic Shop meant good with the ad even though it did not come off that way with many people. They have treated anime and manga fans that have come to their store really well and we will continue to do events and meetings at A Comic Shop. Propeller Anime will show good people who like anime a great time.

First Propeller Anime of 2012... at A Comic Shop! (1/28)

The wait is over! A new era begins!

Propeller Anime will be having a meeting on Saturday, January 28th at A Comic Shop at 4:00PM! We've got the place for a few hours to show and talk anime! You can find it across the street from Full Sail University at 114 S. Semoran Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792.

There are a few things we hope to accomplish at the meeting. First and foremost, we want to make sure we all get to know each other.

We're expecting plenty of new faces who weren't able to go to our meetings at Full Sail. This is sort of a reboot of the club so it's best for everyone to get comfortable first.

MegaCon is coming in February 17th-19th and we are very involved with that. (Read more about that here.) It's a highly anticipated event and we want to get you ready for that. We'll cover guests, events, and other things to do. Plus convention survival for the weekend!

We do events every second Friday of the month at A Comic Shop known as "Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy." We've transformed that into more of a party atmosphere.

Many people have helped us out at the events every month and we really appreciate that. Good ideas are also pitched to us on occasion. We'd like to bounce some off of you and perhaps hear what you guys think would be a cool event.

By the way, we have photos from the January Anime Nite Dating Game event on our Facebook page! Like us and check them out! (And thanks to Anime Addicts Anonymous for hosting it!)

In-between all this talking and getting to know each other, we will be showing some great anime. Not good anime. Not mediocre anime. But some great stuff. An example of great anime is REDLINE, as pictured above.

We may or may not show REDLINE but it does come out this week! (January 17th) You should buy it, watch it, love it, and tell all your friends about it.

Propeller Anime is going to bring some different anime that falls out of the stereotype and cliches of what people expect anime to be as far as characters, story, and art are concerned.

We plan to find one or two things most of you haven't seen and show that, because we love exposing people to great anime for the first time!

Once again, we meet on Saturday, January 28th at A Comic Shop in Winter Park. The meeting will start at 4:00PM and we hope it's something you'll dig.

OMG we're all over MegaCon 2012!

Next February from the 17th to the 19th is MegaCon, Florida's largest comic book, anime, sci-fi and gaming convention. It's gonna be awesome and we'll be there doing events!

Before we get into that, know that you can order tickets in advance here. The event is at the Orange County Convention Center in west Orlando, near the theme parks. You may want to look into reserving a hotel room in the area.

Anyhow, we'll be bringing our big guns to MegaCon this year. The super-popular Ninja Olympics are back and we're making the convention debut of Iron Cardboard Robot Cosplay! We will also have a couple Quickdraw! Contest sessions and even a Karaoke Party!

We also have more than several notable panels from our resident experts. A wide variety of subjects are covered and we hope there is something for everyone!

Dodgeball Before Dishonor on January 21st!

The holidays are over and school's back in session! Some of you took off from work and put on some pounds. But that's okay because Propeller Anime is going to help you work them back off!

Some anime groups get people together with cosplay picnics. That's for sissies. Since Propeller Anime is Orlando's Mightiest Anime Club, we keep it down right fierce with the ultimate team sport: dodgeball!

On Saturday, January 21st, Propeller Anime is calling out everyone in town to get on the field and throw down! We will play dodgeball for a few hours and it will be awesome. All badasses are welcome to play. Everyone else are all welcome to watch.

Meet at the soccer fields at Ward Park in Winter Park, FL at 2PM. On the corner of Dundee Dr and Perth Ln, it's just minutes away from our new home base at A Comic Shop.

Anime Nite Dating Game @ The Geek Easy January 13th!

We're back! 2012 is going to be a hotter year than ever for Propeller Anime and anime fandom in Orlando! We'll be starting off by teaming up with Anime Addicts Anonymous to hook some of you guys up!

It's the new year which means it's time for new romance! Valentine's Day and MegaCon are coming up and you sure as hell don't want to be alone for that, do you?

We're here to help you out! Propeller Anime will be bringing in Anime Addicts Anonymous to host a spin on their event "The Great Cosplay Dating Game."

This event will be on Friday, January 13th and 8PM at A Comic Shop, located at 114 S. Semoran Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792.
One lady will pick from three guys to be her date and then one guy will pick from three ladies to be his date. We will be giving our prize dates free reign to ask the contestants questions as raunchy or personal as possible.

If you aren't participating, this will still be fun to attend. There are not many things in the world more amusing to see than geeks trying to get a date. (You know it's true!)

Propeller Anime will provide prizes for our new happy couples to help them out and they'll even show some cool anime afterwards that show the more amusing side of hooking up.

If you want to be a part of the dating game, either as the prize date or a contestant, be at A Comic Shop by 7:45PM. Anime Addicts Anonymous will take care of you from there.

The Future of Propeller Anime for the year 2012!

The year 2011 was quite a year for Propeller Anime. We put on amazing events at MegaCon and Anime Festival Orlando, defeated Anime Spot in dodgeball, began hosting a monthly anime nite at A Comic Shop, and said goodbye to many of our longtime members who would travel to accomplish great things in their lives.

We also showed a ton of great anime this year, hoping to expose people to things they never seen before and help them appreciate anime more than they have before.

Propeller Anime is a group whose job is to promote great anime to the local anime fans of central Florida and to also provide opportunities for anime fans to get together and have fun. In over the five years we have existed, we've shown a lot of anime and seen many longtime friendships form.

In the year 2012, we'd love to do more of that and take our efforts up a level. After our last meeting of the year, we declared that we are done at Full Sail University. It wasn't a terrible venue, but being a college that wasn't accessible to those not affiliated made it hard for the club to grow and bring in new members, especially since we aren't an official school club.

Because of the popularity of our events at A Comic Shop's event space known as "The Geek Easy," we decided to fully move over to A Comic Shop for our showings. We're really excited about this since this will not only make it easier for people to see our anime showcases, but we're now fully-independent.

We'll still be doing "Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy" on a Friday night at the beginning of each month. That will be more of an event/party for anime fans. We're likely to show anime still but it will be stuff that has more of a fun, party vibe to it.

As a matter of fact, our next one will be on Friday, January 13th and will feature Anime Addicts Anonymous hosting the Anime Fan Dating Game for anime fans looking to hook up. We're going to let them be raunchy and we'll have more details on that soon, seeing that it's the first event of next year!

In addition to Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy, we are going to host a monthly viewing on a weekend afternoon towards the end of each month. We're looking at Saturday afternoons before everyone goes out to party or whatever it is anime fans do on a Saturday night.

Each month, we will be showing anime of historic or artistic relevance, open to all eras and genres. If it's good and the people need to see it, then we'll show it. We look forward to announcing our first meeting at A Comic Shop soon!

In January, we'll be going outside(!) to play dodgeball. This will be after the semester begins and everyone is back from vacation. This will be a fun day for many fans to get together and attack each other with rubber balls. Dodgeball builds character and we'll have a date and location announced early next year.

Then in February is MegaCon, Florida's largest comic book, anime, and sci-fi convention. We have several events already announced and soon we will have panels to go with that. It's a busy weekend for us and you should totally check out what we have going on.

Final Propeller Anime meeting of 2011 on Sunday, December 11th!

IT'S THE END OF THE YEAR AND THE END OF AN ERA!

We're meeting on Sunday for the final time for 2011 on Sunday, December 11 at 1:30PM at Full Sail University in Building 3F room 121! Our feature is the most recent Lupin III special, Lupin III: Blood Seal ~ Eternal Mermaid. If the idea of seeing new Lupin III anime doesn't excite you, then you don't deserve to call yourself an anime fan.

Other than that, we are FINISHING Deadman Wonderland and showing more of Nichijou. Specifically, we're showing episodes 11 and 12 of each series, for those who might have missed meetings recently.

We also killed off Umineko no Naku Koro ni in favor of showing Re: Cutie Honey. It's produced by Gainax and directed by Hideaki Anno! It's based off the Go Nagai manga, which features the first ever transforming magical girl!

This meeting will also be our FINAL meeting at Full Sail University. Propeller Anime will still be around, doing awesome events at A Comic Shop and at conventions like MegaCon and Anime Festival Orlando.

That certainly doesn't mean we are done doing meetings to watch cool anime. If you want to find out more about the future of Propeller Anime, perhaps you should attend this meeting.

WOW, IS IT DECEMBER ALREADY!? WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

Propeller Anime will be having a fabulous meeting on Sunday, December 4th at 2PM at Full Sail University in Building 3F in room 121. You can get a map to the campus here and map to the building here. The physical address of the school is 3300 University Blvd Winter Park, Fl 32792.

We haven't watched anything based on a creation by Mamoru Oshii in about a couple years. That's practically criminal for an anime club!

In order to avoid going to anime club jail(you have no idea what things they do to you in there!), we'll be showing one of his more famous works, ~~Ghost in the Shell~~ Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade!

In an alternate history where Germany has conquered Japan in the 1950s, Kazuki Fuse, a member of the Panzer Cops with the rank of Corporal, is sentenced for not following an order to kill a suicide bomber.

Along the way, he meets Kei, a girl who initially claims to be the suicide bomber's sister. They develop a relationship that proves to be dangerous for the Kerberos Corps. This movie is not for the weak of heart.

Before we get to Jin-Roh, we'll be continuing Deadman Wonderland, Nichijou, and Umineko no Naku Koro ni. So kids will fight to the death with THEIR BLOOD, cute girls will do cute things, and a witch will kill rich people on an island.

That sounds like a fantastic afternoon! See you this Sunday!

Propeller Anime presents TOONAMI REBORN on 12/9!

Propeller Anime presents another epic Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy! On Friday, December 9th at 8PM, we'll revive one of the greatest action cartoon blocks in the history of television.

It's TOONAMI... REBORN!

Every day, after school, cartoon fans around the nation tuned into Cartoon Network for hours on end to watch the likes of Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Gundam, Ronin Warriors, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, The Big O, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, and so many other classic cartoons from Japan.

Propeller Anime will be recreating that magic at A Comic Shop in Winter Park with not only your favorite Toonami anime, but with all the promos, intros, vignettes, and Tom that you would see in a Toonami broadcast!

Next Propeller Anime Meeting on Sunday, November 20th featuring Onigamiden!

To end the Fall, we'll have a Propeller Anime meeting before Thanksgiving on Sunday, November 20th at 2PM at Full Sail University in Building 3F, room 121. We've had an influx of new members as of late and thanks to events like Orlando Japan Festival and Anime Geekgasm, we're sure to have more! If you're a more season member of the club, make sure you make our rookies feel right at home!

With that said, we'll be showing anime! Lots of it! Including a special feature!

We're now halfway through Deadman Wonderland and our protagonist Ganta has been fighting with his own blood in brutal deathmatches to survive one of the craziest prisons ever! He even had to take down a conniving harlot that tried to lower his guard with her feminine wiles only to reveal her true psychotic nature! (Oh man, the jokes I could tell!)

Then in Nichijou, cute girls do cute things and it's very moe. Seriously there's no plot to this show. You can jump in whenever. It's similar to Azumanga Daioh. You like that, right?

After our intermission, we'watch more Umineko no Naku Koro ni. This will feature a debate from purgatory on logic vs magic and a discussion on how six people could be murdered from inside a locked room!

Our feature we'll be showing at the end of the meeting is Onigamiden! Also known as Legend of the Millennium Dragon, it's 2011 movie directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki.

The film follows an incredible journey of a young shy middle school boy, Jun. He traveled 1200 years back through time to be the savior to stop the war between humans and the Orochi demons. (If you play The King of Fighters, you know what's up.)

Next Propeller Anime meeting on Saturday, November 5th!

GOLGO 13 HAS HIS SIGHTS SET ON A NEW TARGET!

Our next meeting will be Saturday, November 5th at 1:00PM at Full Sail University in Building 3C, room FS3C-102. The address of the campus is 3300 University Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792. An interactive campus map can be found here and building map here.

You do not have to be a student to attend the meeting but it makes it easier to enter the building. You may also come whenever you can. (we check the entrance between episodes for late arrivals.)

We've had a lot of cute, fluffy stuff lately and it's time to hire an assassin that gets the job done like no other man can. That's right, the feature this time is the Granddaddy of all MANIME, Golgo 13.

Depending on time constraints, we'll be showing 2 or 3 episodes of the TV series that came out not too long ago. Since Golgo 13 is episodic like Nichijou(which we're obviously showing) so we'll be showing different parts of the series. Just not episode 24.

In addition to Golgo 13 and Nichijou, we'll also be showing episodes 5 & 6 of both Deadman Wonderland and Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Both shows are about people dying and that's awesome!

We will pre-game with Tiger & Bunny for those who show up early. Shocking truths revealed!

Anime Geekgasm @ A Comic Shop 11.11.11! THREE EVENTS! (Plus a Legendary Bonus!)

It's a night of comedy, violence, sex, and cosplay!

A Comic Shop, Anime Spot, Propeller Anime, and Cosplay Deviants bring you an anime super event like no other at The Geek Easy!

At 8PM, Anime Spot will start off with "Whose Line Is It Anime!" If you've seen the television show "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?" it's exactly like that, but with skits and games based on your favorite anime and video games!

Next at 9:30PM, Propeller Anime presents "Iron Cardboard Robot Cosplay!" Teams of three will construct mecha costumes made of cardboard, foil, construction paper, and a secret ingredient! While teams work on their robots, we'll show some cool ass mecha anime!

At 11:30PM, Cosplay Deviants host their world-infamous Hentai Cafe! There will be treats, naughty anime, Tentacle Grape, and the girls of Cosplay Deviants making you feel right at home! (This segment is 18+ w/ I.D.)

This event is FREE for everyone and better than anything you could be doing that night! LEGIT!

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda franchise and the launch of Skyward Sword, A Comic Shop and the Retro Gamer's Army is throwing a huge event to celebrate all things Zelda!

There will be videogames, a bake sale, a costume contest, and an art show! There will even be a midnight launch party for Skyward Sword thanks to Play N Trade Oviedo!

Orlando Japan Festival 2011!

On November 6th, for the FOURTH year in a row, Propeller Anime heads to the west side of Orlando for a festival that celebrates Japanese culture! You know, before they made anime, manga, and videogames.

Orlando Japan Festival is free to attend and there will be vendors for Japanese food and other goods that will be sold. In addition, there will be musical performances, dances, TAIKO DRUMS, martial arts demonstrations, raffles, and more!

For those near where we hold events and meetings that would like to carpool, we'll meet at Full Sail University in front of building 3F in the morning. At 11AM, we travel in a very epic caravan to the festival. Please help your driver with gas money!

Five Years!

On Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 Propeller Anime was born. It's been a hell of a ride with ups and downs and many epic moments. Now we stand as Orlando's Mightiest Anime Club!

For me, it's been a lot of work to plan my life around this group for five years but totally worth it! I've seen people grow, make friends, and do some awesome things. That is a joy not like any other.

Moving forward, we will continue to service the central Floirda Anime community and show good anime and put on the best events that fans can enjoy!

There are a ton of people that need to be thanked. In a short list, a lot of what we have done would not be possible without the people at Full Sail University, Anime Festival Orlando, MegaCon, Anime Sushi, Anime Spot, A Comic Shop, Tatame Lounge, and Prime Time Geek for either promoting us or giving us an opportunity to shine.

Many individuals helped form the foundation of this club, including Corey "Waldo" Waldusky, Noah Roth, Emilio Lopez-Centellas, Rogelio Mosqeuda, Darren Palmer, Simon Wong, Joshua Snyder, David To, Brian Ranaghan, Jean-Louis Jabouin, and George Spanos. Without them, Propeller Anime would have ended years ago.

Along the way the likes of Zak Wilson, Steven Grinder, Dustin Johnson, Tara Van Cuyck, George Tabone, Steven Copp, Hannah Jones, William Page, Larry Furry, Jessica Roth, and Carlos Romero helped out in any way they could to strengthen the club and keep it fun.

To everyone I just mentioned, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And of course, I would like to thank everyone else for coming out to our events and meetings and having a good time!

Next Propeller Anime meeting on Sunday, October 23rd! (UPDATED)

PROPELLER ANIME ENTERS ITS SIXTH YEAR!

Our next meeting will be Sunday, October 23rd at 2:00PM at Full Sail University in Building 3F, room FS3F-121. The address of the campus is 3300 University Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792. An interactive campus map can be found here and building map here.

You do not have to be a student to attend the meeting but it makes it easier to enter the building. You may also come whenever you can. (we check the entrance between episodes for late arrivals.)

Last time we picked three anime series that we will watch for the rest of this year! They are Deadman Wonderland, Nichijou, and Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

Deadman Wonderland is a high-security prison that features inmates competing in deadly games that the public can watch for entertainment. A Japanese high school student is framed for the murder of his entire class and sent to Deadman Wonderland. With death at every turn, Ganta Igarashi does whatever it takes to win and survive.

Nichijou is about cute girls doing cute things and being naive and innocent about it. The won a unanimous vote from our club during the final elimination round. This is a moe show but far more entertaining and the animation is nicer than the standard. Each episode contains four short stories and you can jump in at any time.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni translates to "When the Seagulls Cry" and is part of the Higurashi franchise. A rich family takes a vacation on a secluded island with a mansion and everything. Members of the family disappear and are found slaughtered in a cave. Now the rest of the family must find out what happened to them so they can survive!

We'll be starting at episode 3 of each series on the 23rd for those that may wish to catch up.

Our feature, held at the end of the meeting, will be the first three episodes of Denno Coil. Above is a clip from episode 2!

As for Tiger & Bunny, we'll be watching that as a "pre-game" before the meetings so if you want to watch that, show up an hour early. We've made it through the first 15 episodes of the series.

First Q4 PAC meeting! Decide the Anime October 9th!

NEW ANIME COMING TO PROPELLER ANIME CLUB!

The first meeting of the final quarter of this year will be Sunday, October 9th at 2:00PM at Full Sail University in Building 3F, room FS3F-121. The address of the campus is 3300 University Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792. An interactive campus map can be found here and building map here.

You do not have to be a student to attend the meeting but it makes it easier to eneter the building. You may also come whenever you can.

We'll be showing TWO episodes each of FIVE different anime series and decid...ing which THREE we shall continue to watch for the rest of the year.

The meeting will start off with Episodes 14 & 15 of Tiger & Bunny. It kicks off a new story arc that is pretty awesome. If you haven't seen the show yet, you should.

Next, we'll offer TEN series that we could start. You guys will vote for the FOUR you like the most. You can like as many series as you want and there is a nice mix of good stuff available.

The FOUR series with the most likes will be shown, with the first TWO episodes each. There will be a nice 30 minute break in-between to get food and socialize.

After that, we'll decide as a club how we feel about what we watched and pick the THREE series we will continue.

We will not deter from this plan. Any who try to sabotage it will be German Suplexed and put in the Texas Cloverleaf submission hold.

Final Q3 Propeller Anime Meeting on Sunday, September 25th!

The end of the quarter is coming! That means we'll finish Durarara!! once and for all! Plus, we'll finish a major story arc with Tiger & Bunny! Oh, and how about a new Studio Ghibli movie!?

Ouroboros has invaded Sternbild City and has threatened to blow the place sky high babe if they don't free their criminal mastermind and supremely powerful NEXT, Jake Martinez! Jake has a game, that's like Cell's game, for our heroes to play. (Man, you all better get that reference.)

Barnaby is certain that Jake murdered his parents so will he finally have his revenge? Find out in THREE action-packed episodes of Tiger & Bunny!

We finally come to an end in Durarara!! It's been quite a trip, hasn't it? A civil war erupts between the blue scarves and the yellow scarves with several of our protagonists, including Celty, caught in the middle.

The Dollars are no more, Celty doesn't have her head, and Shizuo's been shot! Will this saga conclude or will we be left with more answers than questions?

Our feature will be Arrietty, Studio Ghibli's newest film. The screenplay is written by Hayao Miyazaki; however, a longtime Studio Ghibli animator in Hiromasa Yonebayashi makes his directorial debut.

The movie is a Japanese take on the Mary Norton's fantasy novel The Borrowers. It's about Arrietty, a 10cm human-looking creature who is a "borrower," or creature that ~~steals~~ borrows things from humans for their own personal use.

She befriends a human boy with a heart condition named Sho and that will cause some tension with her family, as the borrowers have to fight for survival. The movie has done very well commercially and critically, and won the 2010 Animation of the Year from the 34th Japan Academy Prize.

This Sunday, we will not let the terrorists win! To prove that, we will watch an anime that brings about that never give up and kick ass spirit. That's right, it's time for one of the hottest anime of 2011... MAZINKAISER SKL!

This OVA has violence, explosions, hot-bloodedness, chicks in togas, TONS of testosterone, heavy metal music, and three factions battling for control of Machine Island. (Hey, wait a minute!)

The thing is, one of these factions is smart enough to enlist the Death Caprice Squad, composed of two mercenaries: Ken Kaido and Ryo Magami.

Ken and Ryo are like the Ikari Warriors, expect they pilot a badass robot that has the same name as the show! This might be the MANLIEST of all super robot anime! (Which is still not near Berserk or Fist of the North Star.)

We'll be watching more of Tiger & Bunny and Durarara!! as well! In Tiger & Bunny, the criminal organization responsible for the deaths of Barnaby's parents makes their presence felt! Will our heroes be able to take them on?

We're also getting close to the end of DRRR!! To make sure we end on time, we'll be watching THREE episodes of the show this Sunday! We've got yellow scarves and blue scarves and people getting kidnapped!

PAC Meeting 8/28/11 featuring Roberta's Blood Trail!

Our feature will be a return to the club favorite Black Lagoon! Who could forget about those guys?! (If you've never seen Black Lagoon, you can pretty much jump in at any point.) It's about crazy chicks and the guns they shoot!

Continuing off the last series is a new OVA called Roberta's Blood Trail, starring everyone's favorite maid who's really a sadistic killing machine! We'll be watching the whole OVA so make sure you come out for that!

We're making it well into Tiger & Bunny and getting close to the end of Durarara!! Last time in Tiger & Bunny, we discovered Barnaby's Batman-like tragic past and his vow to bring down the organization known as Ouroboros!

But then, a new foe appears and made short work(i.e. KILLED) their criminal suspect. Expect to see this crazy dude in the next episode and FINALLY Origami Cyclone does something!

In addition to showing cool anime, we'll also discuss club t-shirts and future parties. For those of you who don't know, October 22nd is the 5 year anniversary of Propeller Anime Club's founding. We have a lot to celebrate and that is what we shall do in 2 months!

Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy: Pokémon Party!

The Propeller Anime Club is throwing a Pokémon Party at A Comic Shop on September 2nd! There will be videogames, anime, trading, and treats!

Why would we do this? To celebrate over 15 years of kids running away from home to take wild animals against their will and force them to fight each other for glory and profit!

Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Stadium will be available for play and we encourage trainers to bring Pokémon Black & White for the NDS for battles and trading! Cosplay also encouraged!

We'll be showing several awesome episodes while this is all going on along with the Pokémon Heroes movie! (One episode might cause seizures. You have been warned!)

We'll continue Durarara!! and Tiger & Bunny. In addition, we'll sample a 2011 anime series known as Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It's been requested quite a bit so we'll watch the first three episodes.

The series is director Akiyuki Shinbou's take on magical girls. If you've seen his other works(Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Bakemonogatari), then you may have an idea of what to expect.

Since Anime Festival Orlando 12 just happened and it was successful on multiple levels, we'll celebrate that and share some stories as well! See you this Sunday!

It's an interactive convention experience where players will choose between three factions and support one of them to victory by leveling up, going on missions, challenging other players to games of skill, and conquering territory at the convention center!

PAC Meeting 7/31/11! Welcome To The Space Show!

Oh sweet lovely bliss! Anime Festival Orlando 12 is almost here and we have a meeting the weekend before the convention! Last meeting, we went over various events that we will be doing at AFO and others that are worth going to... and others not so much. It's going to be a weekend of partying and as a club we all better have our swim trunks!

We will meet on Sunday, July 31st at 5PM at Full Sail University in Building 2, room 206A. Hopefully, there will not be any issues this time! The address of the building is 3300 University Blvd Winter Park, FL 32792. An interactive campus map can be found here.

In the first half of the meeting, we shall watch more of Tiger & Bunny and Durarara!!, now pronounced in the club as DEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!! (That should do just nicely.) I don't feel like doing plot summaries but I know we'll have fun. If the last meeting was any indication, you will not have more fun doing something else.

With that said, I hope our new faces from last time return and I hope we as a club do well to make the feel welcome. The code of Bill and Ted works: let's be excellent to each other!

In the second half of the meeting, we shall watch a movie that came out in 2010 that just got fansubbed(but not licensed): Welcome to the Space Show! It's directed by Koji Masunari of the Read of Die TV series & OVA and the movie should be a joy to watch.

First Q3 PAC Meeting on Sunday, July 17th!

It's been a real long time since we got together for a normal meeting but we'll be doing just that this Sunday, July 17th at 5PM. The location will be Full Sail University in Building 2(FS2) in room 106B. The address of Full Sail University is 3300 University Blvd, Winter Park FL, 32792. Here is a map of the campus.

We plan to show a bunch of anime that should be new to the club and provide some fun times to hang out! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A FULL SAIL STUDENT OR STAFF TO ATTEND MEETINGS!

After many discussions with different club members over the past few weeks, it is time to change up the structure of our meetings. Meetings have gotten too long and rigid. The meetings were at their best when we were more loose in how we did things.

The First Half Of Meetings in Q3

In the first half of meetings we'll still follow a couple different anime series. We've watched a lot of classic stuff over the past year and a half so for this quarter, we'll check out some newer anime that has been released in Japan the last two years. Some great stuff has been released so we should check that out.

There will be an action block and a comedy/drama block and there will be five different series available to vote for in both. We will decide and show the winners of those blocks this Sunday!

The Second Half Of Meetings in Q3

After we return from our intermission, we'll do something different each meeting. This could be showing a movie like we usually have. Or we could do interactive events like Anime Debate Matches or AMV Contests.

It will also be possible showcase series for a one-time only deal that would definitely be worth checking out. (Remember the time we showed Cat Sh*t One? Now there will be time to do something like that.) The goal is to make the meetings more fun and make them more flexible and the second half will serve that purpose.

For this Sunday, members of our club will be showcasing a videogame that that have been developing for quite some time. I will do a primer on Anime Festival Orlando which will include how to prepare and also what events are worth checking out. (Including ours!)

Jean-Louis and I have talked to a t-shirt printing company and they have given us a quota on two different styles of t-shirts for our club. We will decide the style this Sunday and will begin taking money during the following week.

We'll end the meeting with the runner-up of the vote and see if that is more deserving than our original winners to be continued in meetings.

If you haven't been to a meeting before, this a great chance to get involved! We like to have fun and watch cool stuff together!

Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy: Cyberpunk Revolution on July 1st

The road to Anime Festival Orlando 12 BEGINS HERE!

Propeller Anime Club and A Comic Shop are teaming up to bring Central Florida an exciting night of anime! On Friday, July 1st we'll be hosting Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy: Cyberpunk Revolution!

With Anime Festival Orlando 12 coming soon, we thought it would be awesome to have a theme night that compliments their Conquerors of Neo-Orlandia interactive convention experience. A big part of the story and theme for their main event is inspired by the cyberpunk genre of anime.

As a warm-up for AFO 12, we'll show some of the most exciting of cyberpunk anime for the revolution! (Here is a list of some well-known works.)

The fun starts at 7:30PM at A Comic Shop at 114 S. Semoran Blvd in Winter Park, FL. Restaurants such as China Garden and Gizmo Sushi are in the same plaza so you can bring in outside food. A Comic Shop sells a variety of unique soft drinks and energy drinks.

This event is free to all. We hope to see you there!

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Sunday, June 19th!

The next Propeller Anime Club meeting will be on Sunday, June 19th at Full Sail University in Building 3F in FS3F-112 at 1:00PM. Here is a map.

We have a change of plans for the feature based on the less than stellar response to it at the last meeting. This time, I will bring in five anime movies that EVERY ANIME FAN SHOULD SEE and we will watch the one most of the people at the meeting have not seen. That sounds pretty simple, right?

Planned Schedule:

1:00PM - Introduction and News

1:15PM - Record of Lodoss War 11 - 13 (END)

2:35PM - Diebuster 5 & 6 (END)

3:35PM - Intermission (This means get food, socialize, etc.)

3:55PM - Durarara 11 & 12

4:45PM - Mystery Movie

In Record of Lodoss War, Parn rescued Deedlit while Ashram went down in flames with Pirotess... OR DID THEY!? (Actually I don't remember what happens next.) Anyways, there will be a final showdown and it will be awesome. (I remember that much!)

In Diebuster, we found out during a battle with aliens that Nono is a GODDAMN BUSTER MACHINE. Not just a buster machine but the LEGENDARY one. So we'll finish this fun series as well.

We'll be completing the first arc of Durarara!! In these episodes, the owner of Celty's head will be revealed along with who founded Dollars.

This is actually the last meeting of the quarter. We'll start our third quarter of 2011 on Sunday, July 10th. During that time, a new format for club meetings will be worked on to make club meeting more fresh and fun.

Waldo's Birthday and Going Away Birthday Party this Saturday!

Hell yeah! We need to party and bowl! Because that's fun! Propeller Anime Club is getting together for another fun time! But most important, we say goodbye to a friend and long-time club member.

Corey "Waldo" Waldusky has been in Propeller Anime Club for over three and a half years. After me, he is the longest active member of our club. For that reason, I would like all of you to come out and wish him a final farewell.

We'll be at the Aloma Bowling Centers once again. We plan to do two games so with shoe rentals, it's about $14 a person.

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Sunday, June 5th!

With Conquerors of Neo-Orlandia coming up at AFO and it heavily influenced by cyberpunk anime and movies, we thought it would be best to show off an anime that has been a form of inspiration for Neo-Orlandia: Armitage III.

Earlier in the day, open auditions for Conquerors of Neo-Orlandia tavern characters will be taking place. So immediately get any hopefuls on the same page(and to also attract some new club members) we'll actually be showing the feature FIRST. We won't make a habit of this but we hope many of you come out and see the movie; it's really good.

Here are more details about what we are showing:

Last time in Record of Lodoss War, we saw two great episodes that ended one arc and started another. Parn's tenure as a holy knight of King Faan came to an end when the king fell to Emperor Beld's sword. Karla, who had possessed Leylia's mind and body, immediately killed Beld so that neither side could have full domination of Lodoss.

Later, Leylia was freed by Ghim and the others but Karla the Grey Witch has found a new body to possess in the thief Woodchuck. Now, Parn is forced to go to the dangerous Marmo island(where Beld's forces have regrouped to under his general Ashram) and will have to overcome new obstacles.

We started Diebuster at the last meeting. It's sequels of sorts to Gunbuster and is directed by FLCL's Kazuya Tsurumaki. The influence of FLCL's style is heavy in Diebuster. Nono is a naive, clumsy girl that wants to be a part of the robot-piloting organization known as "Topless."

After meeting a real Buster Machine pilot, Lal'C, it turns out that she is an android who can kill space monsters with a single kick, but only after she rips off her shirt exposing her chest. It's unknown why Nono was built but now she desires to be the pilot of the newest, strongest Buster Machine.

A plot is beginning to surface in Durarara!! For a while now, we've gotten used to the characters and now the pieces of the puzzle are finally being put down on the table! We discovered that the rough and tough Shizuo has a younger brother who is a movie star. When Shizuo sees his brother's movie poster, it provokes a lot of feelings and flashbacks but after talking to Celty, he calms down and accepts that he loves his brother.

As for Celty, she desires to have her head back after having many dreams about being unable to claim it but is told by Shinra she doesn't need it. Later on she has a dream about being whole and her head resembles that of the red-haired girl that Seiji is with. This girl will be the focus of the next couple episodes.

Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy: Mutant Pride on June 3rd

The Propeller Anime Club returns A Comic Shop to host a night of superheroes for June's Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy!

But not just any kind of superheroes! With X-Men: First Class opening in theaters and the fact that we are at A Comic Shop, we thought it would be pretty sweet to show anime about the misunderstood of the superhero world: mutants.

With that said, we will be showing Wolverine, X-Men, and a variation of mutants in the ...red hot Tiger and Bunny! We'll show the first two episodes of each and if we have time, the third episode of the series that you, the fans, like most.

As always, Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy is an awesome place to meet other fans and make some friends while watching cool cartoons from Japan!

For those who have not been to A Comic Shop, it's located on 114 S. Semoran Blvd in Winter Park, FL across from Full Sail University. In the same plaza are restaurants such as Gizmo Sushi and China Garden.

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Sunday, May 22nd!

Our next meeting of Propeller Anime Club will be one of the most important yet! It will be in FS3F-112 at Full Sail's building 3F on Sunday, May 22nd at 1PM!

With Gunbuster finished, we have leveled up once again as anime fans! However, new challenges await us! It's time to take our first trip together into the Leijiverse!

For those who do not know, Leiji Matsumoto is one of Japan's most accomplished creators. He has created groundbreaking works such as Space Battleship Yamato, Galaxy Express 999, and most relevant today: Space Pirate Captain Harlock! Some of you youngins may be more familiar with his work on Daft Punk's music videos. The center of the Leijiverse is the prequel to Captain Harlock, known as Arcadia of my Youth.

The Earth has been conquered by the evil Illumidus Empire with parallels drawn to the post WWII occupation of Japan. Captain Harlock with a group that will become his life long friends begin their fight against this tyranny visited upon the planet earth with no regard to the costs the struggle will have on them, caring only for the ideal of restoring freedom to the people of earth.

But that's not all! We'll be debuting a new anime series to watch!

A spiritual sequel to Gunbuster, Diebuster comes from Gainax. It debuted 15 years after Gunbuster was released. Directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki(FLCL, End of Evangelion), Diebuster is a new story about cute girls who pilot robots and fight invading aliens. I've been told that there is some FLCL influence in this series and we shall determine that soon!

In Record of Lodoss War, Parn has been trained by Lord Cashew and has been brought in to serve King Faan as one of his Holy Knights. A war is about to start between Faan and Emperor Beld, former members of the "Six Heroes" that defeated a demon god 30 years ago. It's a classic struggle between good and evil, but who will survive?

In Durarara!! a plot begins to unravel in the town of Ikebukuro. Celty has dreams about finding her head and thoughts about whether she loves Shinra. Shizuo Heiwajima has a whole episode dedicated to him being a bad-ass dude and having flashbacks about his brother.

Depending on who you are, either welcome back from Spring break or congrats on your finals! Or perhaps congrats on graduating! Life has changed for quite a few of you but one thing that will never go away is Propeller Anime Club!

With that said, our next meeting will be on Sunday, May 8th at 1:00PM in FS3F-112 at Full Sail University in Building 3F. I've been looking to showing this feature for quite some time!

Our club has a lot of fans of Mamoru Hosoda, myself included. At the beginning of the year, we all enjoyed The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and last year we were thrilled to see his masterpiece Summer Wars.

Before he went to Madhouse, he had a final run at TOEI taking what would become Japan's biggest anime and manga franchise and twisting it to a dark tale of mistrust, failure, and redemption.

Some have come up with the theory that this movie is symbolic of his time at Studio Ghibli when he was the original director of Howl's Moving Castle(before Hayao Miyazaki took over). Either way, it's a dark, fresh take on the pirates from One Piece.

Parn has a party formed in Record of Lodoss War and unlike Samurai 7, they will start doing things! The first order of business if for the party to rescue a princess kidnapped years ago, who has now resurfaced as a witch set on killing them!

We'll be finishing Gunbuster this meeting as well. Noriko Takaya has come from being a clumsy ditz to being able to pilot earth's greatest robotic weapon, the Gunbuster. With an alien war underway, will she be able to rise a hero like her father had many years ago?

After Gunbuster, we'll decide if we want to watch sequel series Diebuster or if a series just as short could take over the next few meetings.

In Durarara!! we saw a dude get uppercut out of his clothes by Shizuo Heiwajima, further showing the incredibly normal Mikado how crazy the city of Ikebukuro can be. Speaking of which, people in Ikebukuro have gone missing and rumors are flying that they are being used as raw materials for experiements!

One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island is a self-contained movie that does not fall into the One Piece continuity. You do not have to know much about One Piece or even like the series to enjoy this movie. Just know that several members of the pirate crew led by Monkey D. Luffy are devil fruit users that have special powers but can't swim and that Luffy wants to be the king of the pirates someday.

Music is a powerful, universal language that anyone can understand and in anime it's no different. Propeller Anime Club will be celebrating this idea by hosting "Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy: Battle of the Bands" on Friday, May 6th at A Comic Shop. Show starts at 7:30PM.

Battle of the Bands will work like this: four anime about making and performing music will be shown, featuring concert performances, and at the end you guys will pick the band you liked most. That band gets an encore performance at the end of the night!

PAC Pool Party on April 30th!

At the last meeting, it was discovered that many of you who are Full Sail students will be staying home for spring break, which has just started. With that in mind, we will have a pool party on Saturday, April 30th.

The location will be Azure Apartments at 3650 Summer Wind Drive Winter Park, Florida. The pool is located behind the leasing office.

Meet at 1PM for some fun in the sun and good times! I'll have a cooler with drinks and a bag of charcoal in case anyone wants to frill by the pool. It is up to you guys to bring any food the grill or any snacks.

Kigeki is a 10 minute animated short from director Kazuto Nakazawa, who has done key animation for Roujin Z and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture.

The main feature is the short, but sweet Legend of Koizumi. It's about Junichiro Koizumi's epic mahjong battles against other world leaders while on diplomatic trips throughout the world. Koizumi is a former prime minister of Japan. Both Bush presidents and Vladmir Putin will be in this, and some people(probably not us) will be offended.

In Record of Lodoss War, a party of adventurers have formed: Parn the Knight, Deedlit the elf, Ghim the dwarf, Woodchuck the thief, Slayn the wizard, and Etoh the cleric. In a flashback we learn that Parn and his group have been tasked by King Fahn to find the sage, Wort, to see if he can provide them any information about Karla, the Gray Witch. During their adventure they had to fight and slay a dragon.

In Gunbuster, an all-girl school are training to pilot a new weapon known as the Gunbuster to get ready in case another war with the aliens take place. The main character, Noriko Takaya, is the daughter of a famous space admiral but lacks the skills to be a pilot. Overtime, she has to overcome her problems because another war is coming...

In Durarara!! a ton of characters are introduced and it will take a but to get used to everyone. Unlike Baccano! the story is told in a linear fashion. We discover that Ikebukuro is a dangerous place featuring some of the toughest street thugs, gang members, and even a headless biker.

From MegaCon 2011: Anime Sushi's 12th Annual Anime Costume Contest!

Propeller Anime Club shot a lot of video for the events at MegaCon. We are working on breaking the footage up so it can be viewed on YouTube in the highest quality possible.

The first event that we have gone through was the biggest of MegaCon weekend. It's the hard cam footage of Anime Sushi's 12th Annual Anime Costume Contest. Video was shot by Russell Westberry. Enjoy!

We'll have more videos of events up over the next month. This turned out to be a more time-consuming project than I thought, mainly because of YouTube's upload speeds. Next up will be Anime Debate Tournament!

REDLINE at the Florida Film Festival on April 16th!

First Spring PAC meeting Sunday, April 3rd at 1:00PM!

Hey anime fans! Did you like how we rolled at MegaCon!? We hope you had fun! We have a bunch to wrap up in regards to that but we do want to get back to showing off some cool anime! Our first meeting of the Spring quarter will be on Sunday, April 3rd at 1PM at Full Sail University in FS3F-112 in Building 3F! (Near Wendy's)

For those who've never been to a PAC meeting, it's free and we watch a bunch of anime and have some lively discussions about what we watch. Since MegaCon just finished, there will be much to discuss about the weekend. We show several on-going series, followed by a feature to wrap up the meeting in an awesome way!

Speaking of features, we will be showing the first movie Hayao Miyazaki ever directed, and that will be Castle of Cagliostro! It stars the cast of Lupin III going for another caper that deals with an evil baron and his plans to produce high quality counterfeit bills from all the major nations, all while forcefully marrying a girl that has caught Lupin's eye!

But that is not all! We start watching three series this meeting! We have the fantasy classic, Record of Lodoss War, which is essentially a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Then there is Gainax's stylish mecha classic Gunbuster, and then we have a newer series that fans of Baccano! should like in Durarara!!

Created by Baccano's Ryohgo Barita, Durarara!! is about a dullahan working as an underworld courier in Ikebukuro, Japan, an internet-based anonymous gang called Dollars, and the chaos that unfolds around the most dangerous people in Ikebukuro.

A Big Thanks To All The Fans For MegaCon 2011!

MegaCon this past weekend was a big deal for many fans, and Propeller Anime Club was proud to be a part of the convention! Our members hosted many panels that covered Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rumiko Takahashi's works, Pokemon, MANIME, Axis Powers Hetalia and much more!

Not only that, but we also hosted events that included Super Anime Trivia, Anime Debate Tournament, the Quickdraw! Contest, Ninja Olympics and the convention-ending Karaoke Party!

We had a lot of fun at those events and we hope you did as well, whether you participated or watched!

We took many photos and filmed many events and we plan to get those up for you all to check out as soon as we can! We'll announce our contest winners this week too!

If you like what we did at MegaCon and want to get involved with us, we do hold meetings in Winter Park twice a month to watch lots of anime.

As a matter of fact, we'll be having a meeting this Sunday, April 3rd at 1:00PM at the Full Sail University campus. Room to be announced tomorrow! (You don't have to be student or staff to attend meetings.)

We'll be starting three series(Durarara!!, Record of Lodoss War, and Gunbuster) and finishing up the meeting with Hayao Miyazaki's classic debut film as a director, Castle of Cagliostro! We'll also be talking MegaCon and planning when we shall see REDLINE at the Florida Film Festival in April!

Other than that, I personally would like to thank my awesome crew for making this MegaCon run so well! That would be George T, Carlos R, Zak W, Steven G, Jessica R, Noah R, Emilio C, Jean-Louis, Fuzzy, Bhrohammer, Tara, Goggins, Scott W, Shawn W, Russbus, and Waldo for putting in a tremendous amount of work this weekend!

Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy on Friday, April 8th! Gundam U.C. with Cardboard Box Robot Wars!

Propeller Anime Club will be at A Comic Shop on Friday, April 8th at 8PM to host another exciting Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy! Last time was a little ice breaker to know that anime will be seen monthly at Orlando's #1 comic book store. This time we get real!

Our feature will not be a cage match, but an all out war! We will watch the epic Gundam Unicorn. Just seeing that trailer should get you all pumped! What's great about this series is that you don't have to know anything about the Gundam franchise in order to enjoy this.

Gundam Unicorn is it's own story and it's an exciting ride for anyone wanting to see a lot of action and drama. Plus, those robots looks friggin' awesome!

We'll be showing all three episodes, one after another. Gundam Unicorn is one of the hottest anime series of the past year and you won't want to miss it at The Geek Easy!

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL!

We will be holding a contest to see who can build the best of all cardboard box robot costumes, using cardboard, foil, tape, and construction paper as building materials! We'll start things up at 8PM and we'll go for an hour! (With Gundam Unicorn starting at 9PM)

Teams will consist of three participants each: two to construct the costume and one to wear it. It's a good idea to plan what you want to do. We'll supply the building materials and the tools, you make the robots. Around 9PM, we'll judge the entries and pick the winning robot!

Man, that was a great way to end the quarter! We had exciting finishes to Cromartie High School, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team, and FLCL!

We also got to do a test run of Anime Debate Tournament, a new event to be held at this year's MegaCon! We had four teams of three debate over topics such as "Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan is a manly anime" "Anime needs more black people" and "Vic Mignogna is still a contender to headline conventions and anime."

It was great discussion overall, and we got to refine the rules of the event before it goes live at 5PM this Friday in W224D of the Orange County Convention Center. Sign-ups will be held at our table in front of W224B from 1PM to 4:30PM. You should check out the details and rules of the event here.

We also determined what anime we shall show in April, May, and June. For series, we shall have Record of Lodoss War, Gunbuster vs Diebuster, and Durarara!! For features the club selected Castle of Cagliostro, Legend of Koizumi, One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island, Arcadia of my Youth, Armitage III, and Interstella 5555!

With these, the upcoming showing of REDLINE at the Florida Film Festival in April, and our Anime Nites @ The Geek Easy, it's going to be a great spring! Our first meeting of the next quarter will begin on Sunday, April 3rd!

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Sunday, March 20th!

The next meeting of Propeller Anime Club will be on Sunday, March 20th at 1pm in FS3F-111 in Building 3F at Full Sail University. This will be the last meeting before MegaCon, and our last meeting of the first quarter of 2011. This means we end three series and decided where to go next. But that is not all! We have an event to test run!

Did organizing the schedule into quarters work for meetings? Did we watch some cool stuff? What will we start in April? Will Cromartie High School ever make sense?

Anime Debate Tournament Test Run

We are debating Anime Debate Tournament at MegaCon days later and some of us want to do a test run to make sure we are ready for the primetime! What does this mean for us? Well, we need three (3) teams of three (3) contestants to participate in the event. This will give our emcee a chance to warm up and the rest of staff to determine the flow.

Check the rules of our event and see if you want to form teams. Everyone who participates gets candy!

Decide The Anime Q2

Last December, we looked at what anime we would show starting this year. We will be finishing all of those on Sunday! With that said, we need to figure out what we will watch as a club! So I have listened to some suggestions and have also thought heavily on interesting anime the club needs to see and would enjoy.

Twelve (12) series and twelve (12) features are being put up for vote. For the second quarter that goes from April to June, three (3) series and (6) six features will be selected by you guys! It's a lot of great stuff from different genres and eras, including some newer stuff.

I'll go over what each anime is and why it's interesting and you will let me know which ones you like and would totally come to meetings to watch without staring at FaceBook or World of Warcraft the whole time. The anime that get the most amount of likes will be the ones we show. It's that simple!

Cromartie High School

Oh Cromartie, you are so crazy and badass! We will miss your crazy logic, your absurd conversations that are completely irreverent, and most of all... we will miss Freddie. Gorilla will star in a couple of these episodes and there will be a surprise ending that may mess with some of you guys!

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team

Man, the last few episodes have been amazing. Shiro and Aina have become lovers. Ginias has become mad during the creation of Zeon's Apsalus mobile armor. Shiro has faced pending court martial only to quit the Earth Federation and fight for his own justice. And Aina is now forced to pilot the Apsalus against the man whom she loves. It's the end of a Gundam story so expect death tolls on both sides and an all-out explosive finish!

FLCL 4 -6

This series is all over the place. We have a kid with horns coming out of his head that become monsters, an out-of-this-world chick who fights them with a bass guitar, and a robot that was a monster that merges with the kid to become a super monster-fighting machine! Oh and there is a lot of "Fooly Cooly" going on, whatever that means...

It's the most bizarre coming of age story ever told in anime and we shall finish it up this upcoming meeting! See you there!

PAC goes bowling on 3/13!

It's time to get together for some bowling fun! It's a great chance for some of the newer members of the club to get more involved and for everyone to just hang out and chill!

Aloma Bowl is five minutes of driving from Full Sail or about 10-15 minutes of walking. Shoe rentals per person cost about $3 and games are $4 per person. So we'll bowl a couple games which means it will cost about $10 per person to play.

If you don't want to bowl and just want to hang out, that is fine! There are pool tables, air hockey, Hydro Thunder, a bar, and concessions.

Outside food is not allowed but things like cake and cookies are okay.

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Saturday, March 5th!

Finally, the day is coming quick! It's on order and on its way into my hands to show to you, anime fans! Saturday, March 5th will be the Propeller Anime Club meeting where we will show FLCL... Fooly Cooly!

That's right! Gainax's work that shaped the state of anime fandom a decade ago is back on BluRay and still kickin' ass! Rickenbacker 4001 will be swung with little regard for life itself!

The fun and excitement begins on Saturday, March 5th at 1:15PM in FS3F-111 in Building 3F at Full Sail University. We'll start off with our regular series - which includes finishing of Black Lagoon - and then head into the first half of Fooly Cooly!

In Cromartie High School, we've witnessed Kamiyama win the Japan Boss Tournament and Mechazawa becoming a motorcycle. Now, they team up to take on the fastest man on a motorcycle! Other highlights include Freddie taking Pootan's job and Maeda getting kidnapped by Bass High... again.

Last time in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team, Shiro confessed his feelings for Aina and their brief time together has been discovered by both the Earth Federation and Zeon. After a tragic battle to save Kiki's village, Shiro must await his sentence as he has been accused of treason. As the One Year War draws to a close, action really heats up in the jungle and... is that a new Gundam!?

We watched a big chunk of Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage at the last meeting and will be finishing it this time! Hotel Moscow has escalated the war with the Washimine yakuza group and the Lagoon Company has taken their side! Rock has come back to Japan to sever ties with his former life; will he be able to do it or will Balalaika put a bullet in his head? And how many people will Revy kill this time!?

It's going to be an action-packed meeting! Hope to see you there!

IT'S PAC BAYBEE! GET YOUR SCOOPS! I think a certain fighting game that stars superheroes and Mike Haggar somehow prevented people from coming to the meeting. That and people having to make movies.

Unfortunately, we were not able to show 5 Centimeters Per Second today due to an audio problem and instead showed an additional two episodes of Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, perhaps one of the most popular anime series we have ever shown in club.

It looks like gangster stories are of interest in club since we compared today's episodes to the beginning of Gungrave. That was generally liked and then they brought in zombie-like creatures and other weird stuff...

Anyways, here is the news you need to know!

Summer Wars came out this past week. If you like good anime movies, check it out! Mamoru Hosoda(The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) directed it along with studio Madhouse!
On March 3rd at 8PM, we'll be doing an event called Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy. It will be at A Comic Shop! Please come out for some fun!
The next club meeting has been moved to Saturday, March 5th as to not compete with Pokemon Black & White's release.
We'll be getting together for bowling at the Aloma Bowl on Sunday, March 13th! Details to come.
We hyped the hell out our MegaCon events this past week. Make plans to go!

In Cromartie High School, we learned that the best way to handle trolls is to deck them in broad daylight in a crowded area. There will totally be no consequences to that. Also, Kamiyama won the Japan Boss Tournament for his knowledge of dairy products. We also learned survival in the wilderness from Freddie as he scaled mountains and crossed rivers to get to the nearest 24/7 ramen shop!

Things have started to get real serious in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team. Shiro and Aina have reunited in in battle and had to team up with each other in order to survive the harsh climate. This results in Shiro confessing his love for Aina and then getting naked in a conveniently nearby hot spring with her. Good for him!

Then he recieved a court martial because of his time with Aina and had to sneak away from confinement with his subordinates to rescue the guerrilla village Kiki lived at. They weren't actually under attack by Zeon, they were just there. However, one launched bazooka missile kills a Zeon soldier and all hell breaks loose!

Kiki's father, who is not Sagat, gets killed in battle. Then Shiro sheds manly tears and takes a deadly shot at his enemy. The village reels from the tragedy and next we will see what consequences Shiro and his team will face for going out into battle

A new mission started in Black Lagoon: Second Barrage. Rock has been hired by Hotel Moscow to serve as a translator for a deal they are making with a yakuza family. Revy tags along as his bodyguard, ensuring that lots of people will be violently shot to death on what should be a simple mission.

During their downtime, Rock meets a nice girl who turns out to be heir to a rival yakuza family Hotel Moscow plans to wipe out. When he finds out, he urges Revy to help him protect the girl. The girl's yakuza family has a swordsman who can cut straight bullets in half and him and Revy team up to wipe out many of the Hotel Moscow-aligned yakuza group at a bowling alley. It was so awesome.

We'll watch 5 Centimeters Per Second at the end of the quarter and we'll finish the final two episodes of Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage at the next meeting and start FLCL! It will be action-packed!

Quick Guide to MegaCon 2011!

If you have been following us for the past week then you know that MegaCon is certainly a big deal for the Propeller Anime Club! It's Florida's largest convention dealing with comic books, sci-fi, anime, and gaming. The event will take place March 25th-27th at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

Our club has teamed up with Anime Sushi again and we have brought Anime Spot aboard to help us this year to create a schedule for the Anime Events Track at MegaCon that might be the best yet!

Propeller Anime Club is excited to present many exciting events that show off our passion for anime and our unique ability to get lots of anime fans involved. Our big events include Anime Debate Tournament, Super Anime Trivia, Quickdraw! Contest, and the Ninja Olympics!

We are also hosting a lot cool discussion panels on some of our favorite anime and videogame series' that we hope you will like! The full listing of our events can be found here.

For those who are new to MegaCon or would like to increase their fun from last year, we have a list of tips to help you "survive" the giant convention this year.

MegaCon is not just an anime convention. Regardless of whether it is or not, there is no excuse for you to leave your dignity at home and act like the people seen here. Remember, you're adults and you're representing anime fandom.
MegaCon is ridiculously crowded, especially on Saturday. A massive amount of body heat will get generated. It is a great idea to stay hydrated and have proper hygiene every day you go. Shower each day, wear a fresh set of clean clothes, and put on deodorant!
It's quicker to get through registration at MegaCon if you pre-register for your pass. Otherwise, the line to pay at the door is long on Friday and especially Saturday.
Most vendors at MegaCon take only cash, as do artists in the artists alley and celebrity guests in the autograph area. Make sure you have the amount you need when going in. (The convention center has ATMs.)
Getting a hotel near the convention center is convenient if you plan on attending all three days. Book your hotel as soon as possible and network to find responsible, trustworthy roommates!
Other than staff and volunteer help, there are only two kinds of people that go to the Cyberia dance at MegaCon: children and the pedophiles that try to date rape them.
Yelling internet memes such as "you have lost the game" or "butt scratcher" at a convention makes you a loser and lets everyone know that once the weekend is over, you will go back to your lonely lifestyle.
Speaking from wisdom, hooking up at a convention in hopes of establishing a real relationship is a bad idea. But if that isn't going to stop you, make sure you ask for two forms of identification that have their birth dates printed in them!
If you can't tell whether or not they are underaged, that means they definitely are and if it looks like a trap then it absolutely is one.
There is not a single guest at MegaCon worth idolizing unless they created Spider-man. They're all people, just like you and me.
Network, socialize, and have fun! Meet new people and share your passion for anime. If you find someone really cool that likes anime, then invite them to our club!
Some people's lives revolve around dressing up in cosplay and pretending to be someone else. Pity them but appreciate their ability to decorate the convention space.
Make sure you eat every day so you don't pass out! The convention center has a food court and there are many restaurants within walking distance.
Listen to staff at MegaCon. If they ask you to do something then do it. It's for the sake of running a smooth convention.
Lastly, MegaCon has more to do than walk around crowded hallways and the exhibition hall all weekend. The Anime Event Track is pretty good this year so participate in events and check out panels at least a few times a day!

Following these tips will not only make your MegaCon experience awesome, but it will make you a fine convention attendee and a great ambassador for anime fandom. MegaCon is only five weeks away so get ready to have fun!

Quickdraw! Contest @ MegaCon 2011!

Are you an artist who wants to test their skills against others, or do you just want to have a fun time drawing with other artists? The Quickdraw! Contest breaks artists up in groups of novice and advance and has them compete in three different 20 minute drawing sessions for prizes! Fun and creativity are highly encouraged!

This is one of the many events Propeller Anime Club will be hosting at MegaCon 2011. This contest will be from 2PM to 4PM on Sunday, March 27th in W224D at the Orange County Convention Center!

The Quickdraw! Contest is a favorite of ours to host. We get to see a lot of cool stuff and everyone is having a pretty fun time!

This year, we hope to see many talented artists, both established and aspiring, in our drawing sessions. We'll supply pencils, erasers, and paper if you do not have any. We'll scan the top entries and post them online for everyone to see! You can check out the winners of last year's contest here.

Rules

This is a solo competition.
Sessions will have a novice and advance rank, depending on what artists think their skill level is
Each session will be timed at 20 minutes.

Once is the session is over, please write your name and rank(novice or advance) that you are competing in.

You may jump into the contest as long as there is space in the room for you to draw in.
Artists can change to a rank the feel more comfortable in in-between sessions.
Winners will be announced at the end of the Quickdraw! Contest, with prizes given out.
Artists can keep their drawings but winning entries must be scanned!
No pressure during this contest. While we have winners to get you guys to come out, this is all about being creative and having fun!

Ninja Olympics @ MegaCon 2011!

This is one of the many events Propeller Anime Club will be hosting at MegaCon 2011. This epic event will be from 4PM to 5PM on Sunday, March 27th in W224 F, G, & H at the Orange County Convention Center!

Sign-ups will be at the Propeller Anime Club table outside of W224B from 11AM to 3:30PM on Sunday, March 27th. Teams will be composed of three (3) aspiring ninja warriors and the competition will be capped at twelve (12) teams.

Below is everything else you need to know about this year's Ninja Olympics!

Rules

All teams must be signed up by 3:30PM on Sunday, March 27th and arrive to W224 F, G, & H at 4PM that day for the start of the Ninja Olympics.
Each team will be composed of exactly three (3) members.
Each team will represent a ninja village that they will register a name for.
No participant in the Ninja Olympics will physically attack another participant, staff member, or member of the audience.
Each event of the Ninja Olympics will test some combination of speed, stealth, strength, and hand-eye coordination.
Some events may test a team's ability to work together in harmony.
Each event will have a first, second, and third place team and will be awarded points as such:

First place: 3 points
Second place: 2 points
Third place: 1 point

After all events in the Ninja Olympics have ended. All points for each team will be calculated and the top three teams will be announced and rewarded for their heroics.
Propeller Anime Club, Anime Sushi, MegaCon, and the Orange County Convention Center will not be responsible for any injuries participants may gain in connection to the Ninja Olympics, or during it.
The Ninja Masters of the Propeller Anime Club reserve the right to disqualify any teams from competition for any unruly or dishonorable behavior, and will do so without sympathy. Please be courteous and civil.

Tips

Since there is physical activity required for the events, you MUST have some basic physical fitness to compete.

Can you do a push up or sit up? Can you walk at a faster pace for multiple city blocks? If not, then you probably shouldn’t enter the Ninja Olympics.

Make sure you stretch out before competing to prevent pulling any of your muscles or any other injury.
It is a great idea to be properly hydrated for the event.
Make sure that you and your teammates show up on time.
There is no dress code for the event but it is recommended you wear attire you can move around in.
It’s totally cool and encouraged to come to the event dressed as a ninja. However, real ninjas do not wear orange.

Anime Debate Tournament @ MegaCon 2011!

Eight teams fiercely compete in a debate tournament on topics relating to Japanese anime and manga and their fandoms. If you love to argue, this is your chance to show off your skills for prizes including the ultimate geek reward: satisfaction in always being right!

This is one of the many events Propeller Anime Club will be hosting at MegaCon 2011. This will be a collaboration with our friends at Anime Spot! Event will be from 5PM to 7PM on Friday, March 25th in W224D at the Orange County Convention Center!

Sign-ups for the event will be the table Propeller Anime Club and Anime Spot will be sharing, outside of room W224B from 1pm - 4:30pm. Sign-ups are closed once eight (8) teams have entered.

All information you need to know about the event is below.

Rules

Debate teams will be formed before the event and will consist of three (3) members each.
All teams must be at the event on time or they are disqualified.
Each match will have a proposition team and an opposition team.
Arguments in debates must be informed and use the truth.
One person speaks for their team at a time when it is their team's turn to debate in a match.
You can change to another speaker on your team during your turn, but you have to announce it and you can't change back.
Speakers don't have to use their alloted speaking time, but they may not exceed it.
Language must be kept PG. That means certain words may not be spoken.
Name calling and insulting will not be tolerated.
No yelling during the match or interrupting other speakers when it is their turn.
Judges will vote on the team that did better in the match. The crowd will also make up a vote. Winning team advances the tournament.
Topics will be related to Japanese anime, manga, and fan culture.

Time Breakdown For Each Match

Three (3) minutes for each team to construct their arguments and prepare their speaker(s)
Three (3) minutes for opening proposition constructive speech
Three (3) minutes for opposition constructive speech
One (1) minute for each team to construct their rebuttal and prepare their speaker(s)
Two (2) minutes for proposition rebuttal
Two (2) minutes for opposition rebuttal

Example Topics That Teams May Be Assigned To Propose Or Oppose

Light Yagami was totally justified to use the Death Note to rid the world of criminals.
It is totally plausible for teenagers to pilot giant robots without any training or instruction.
"Axis Powers Hetalia" adequately teaches world history.
Japanese manga are superior to western comic books.
Classic shonen anime of the 80s and 90s are superior to those of today.
After decades of creating anime, it is time for Hayao Miyazaki to retire.
Moé anime and manga do not just promote some fetish for creepy otaku.
"Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" showcased Square Enix's ability to produce quality anime.
"Twilight: The Anime" would rejuvenate the anime industry in America.
Streaming services such as Crunchyroll and Hulu have killed the need to torrent anime.
Cosplay promotes anime and manga more than any aspect of a convention.
It can only be anime if it comes from Japan; therfore "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Teen Titans" are not anime.
It's okay to pirate anime and manga because it supports their respective industries.

Tips for success

Back up your arguments with facts and examples.
Using hatred or insults as part of your argument will hurt you.
It's better to end you argument early than to fill out time by repeating yourself.
When preparing rebuttals, think about counter arguments the other team will make.
Make sure that your team is balanced with people who are knowledgeable and can speak publicly.
Be passionate in your argument.

Super Anime Trivia @ MegaCon 2011!

Anime fans and all other geeks in the Orlando rejoice! Propeller Anime Club and A Comic Shop have teamed up to bring a new anime event to their super cool hangout lounge known as The Geek Easy!

Every month, the Propeller Anime Club will have Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy, a haven for anime fans that will feature some combination of anime showings, interactive events, contests, and partying!

You see, we were thinking "why watch anime in a dark room by yourself when you can dress up and party with other fans and have even more fun?"

The first Anime Nite @ The Geek Easy will be a STEEL CAGE MATCH* between two fan favorite anime starring sexy ladies that save the day by fighting monsters and other things that prey upon the weak!

In the blue corner, we have the lovely magical sailor scouts from Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon! In the red corner, we have the sexy fallen angels of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt!

Two anime will enter and have a back and forth battle where you, the fans, decide the winner! We'll show several of the best episodes of each series and then destiny will run it's course!

This event is free and will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 8pm in The Geek Easy Lounge, located in A Comic Shop on 114 S. Semoran Blvd in Winter Park, FL. For those who want the full cultural experience, Gizmo Sushi is located two doors down from A Comic Shop!

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Sunday, February 20th!

Valentines Day will have passed by this time but that doesn't mean can't have a little bit of romance left over. Sunday, February 20th at 1PM in FS3F-111 of Building 3F at Full Sail University will be when and where our next meeting will take place.

Propeller Anime Club enters a genre it has stayed away from and experiences the most recent film of one of the past decade's most acclaimed directors: Makoto Shinkai.

Makoto Shinkai broke out in 2000 when he created, directed, wrote, and produced - BY HIMSELF - Voices of a Distant Star. Since then, he has been named a contender for Hayao Miyazaki's throne much like Mamoru Hosoda has.

Our feature will be 5 Centimeters Per Second. The movie looks beautiful and features a story of two close friends who are forced apart by their families and try their best to stay in touch through letters. But over time, their communication begins to cease and the rift between them grows wider.

The movie examines human relationships and the power of communication in great detail and it will be something that is certainly fresh and new for the club.

In Cromartie High School, we learn how to handle trolls on the internet and the Japan Boss Championships begins! Every school boss and punk will be there to battle for title of Japan's strongest!

In Mobile Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team, we get a new director(the old one died after episode 6 was finished) and Shiro reveals his love for Aina. (After he gets to see her naked in a hot spring, of course!) When the Earth Federation finds out about Shiro's relationship with her, they brand him a traitor and seek his court martial! Unless Shiro does something for them...

In Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, a new mission begins and Rock tags along with Hotel Moscow boss Balalaika to be translator in negotiations with a fallen yakuza group and decide to crush the other yakuza group that has been treating them poorly. At some point, this leads to Revy wanting to kill people and I know that's what you want to see!

Recap of the last meeting! 2/5/11 edition!

Last meeting was very sweet! Literally! We had brownies, candy, cupcakes, and caramel-filled cake. And punch too! Gotta have punch. We had a couple big things to celebrate!

For those who still don't know, we beat Anime Spot in dodgeball 3 games to 1 this past Saturday, thus making us the supreme anime club in Orlando! We did some casuals after and it started to rain. We also had a couple games to show off from the Global Game Jam that some of our club members worked on. They made some pretty rad stuff in 48 hours!

Good job guys! If anyone else has collaborative projects to show off, whether they are games, artwork, short films, or AMVs, let me know so I can schedule them in for meetings!

We also talked a bit about MegaCon, taking place March 25th - 27th in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. I showed you guys a scary convention video filled with dumbasses but don't worry, MegaCon will still be rad. We have a ton of awesome events there too so please come out and support us! And tell your friends!

In the future, we'll highlight our major events at MegaCon and some of the other things in the Anime Events Track you should also check out!

Awesome stuff was seen and we are halfway through all of our series! In Cromartie High, we got to see the glory that is the MechzawaCycle and Takenouchi ended up in America when he conspired with luchadore criminals to hijack an airplane!

Aina of Zeon and Shira of the Earth Federation have reunited in fierce battle in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team! Will their love blossom? (Also, a manly headbutt was delivered in a Zeon prison cell. Hell yeah!)

Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage was pretty crazy! Revy, Eda, and the rest of Lagoon Company fought of many bounty hunters including a gothic lolita chainsaw freak, a rotund pyromaniac, the blade-wielding Shenhua("lovingly" called "Chinglish" by Revy), and a so-called wizard who likes grand entrances! And don't forget the cowboy from Florida! Yeah, those were a couple of awesome episodes.

Last but not least, we showed Robot Carnival. Oh man, what a treat that was. Nine animated robot-themed shorts from people that were already masters of Japanese animation or were on the path to becoming so.

It featured directors such as Katsuhiro Otomo(AKIRA), Hiroyuki Kitakubo(Golden Boy), Hiroyuki Kitazume(Zeta Gundam), and Hidetoshi Omori(Bubblegum Crisis), just to name a few. Everyone needs to watch this. Not every short will win you over, but the ones that do will blow you away.

Propeller Anime Club Meeting on Sunday, February 6th!

Our next meeting of Propeller Anime Club will be on Sunday, February 6th at 1:00PM in FS3F-111 in Building 3F of Full Sail University. We have several things to celebrate before we begin watching Japanese cartoons!

First, senior member Zak W. will have a birthday soon. So hopefully he will be at the meeting so we can celebrate that! (I will bake some sweets!)

Next, more than several of our club members participated in the Orlando branch of the Global Game Jam this past weekend. For those not in the know, the GGJ is a worldwide event that lasts for 48 hours. In that time, developers of all types get together and create small labors of love in the form of videogames! So our club members that participated will show their games off!

Finally, we will have to celebrate for our very likely victory in dodgeball that we will gain this Saturday against Anime Spot. The team has been doing some very manly training under my guidance and have become a small army of badasses. Please make sure that you support them this Saturday! Give your spirit to them so they can launch dodgeballs like Genki Dama at their opponents!

Our feature this meeting is the classic anthology, Robot Carnival! In the late eighties, nine of Japan's leading animators were asked to create a short segment that followed the theme of "Robots," for their inclusion in this film.

Essentially, this "movie" is nine short films, all independent of one another. The common element is human interaction with robots, namely the consequences of creating life with one's own hands, played in nine very different ways. One of the director's includes legendary Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo.

We'll also be showing more of our usual series.

In Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, the Lagoon Company face off against every bounty hunter in Roanapur to protect a girl who happens to be an expert money counterfeiter.

Things get even crazier in Cromartie High! Mechazawa's little brother gets crushed by Gorilla and Takenouchi ends up switching places with a criminal from America! Get ready for Masked Takenouchi!

And in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team, we see the good and bad of Zeon and discover man-faced Karen's tragic past!

Propeller Anime Club vs Anime Spot: DODGEBALL!!!

The day of destiny is coming fast! Propeller Anime Club and Anime Spot have selected the members of their respective dodgeball teams and both teams have trained hard for victory!

But there can only be one victor and one supreme anime club in all of Orlando. Which one will it be?

The game is scheduled to start at 3PM in Jay Blanchard Park on Dean Road. You will be there and will cheer loudly for blood and violence!

The match will be determined by the team to reach three (3) wins first and they must be ahead by two (2) games in order to claim victory.

Afterwards, casual dodgeball play will be available to anyone who wants to play. Niether club will assume responsibility for any injuries you might recieve at the park on February 5th.

That first meeting of this year was pretty awesome! Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January 23rd at 3:00PM in FS3F-111! Our feature will be Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Porco Rosso! Actually, the original title of the movie translates to Crimson Pig. Yup! Just like the name of the room we did Skies of Orlandia in at Anime Festival Orlando last year!

Also featured are more of Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, Cromartie High School, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team. So that means gunfights with incest vampires, Gundam ambushed by guerilla Zakus, and more tough guy humor featuring the introduction of Cromartie's most feared student!

We'll also have news about MegaCon, dodgeball versus Anime Spot, and a future event we will be doing with a new ally!

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team - Shiro Amada becomes the commander of an Earth Federation ground unit of mobile suits that are trying to fight Zeon forces in the jungles of southeast asia. While traveling through space, he meets a lovely Zeon pilot named Aina Saharin and the two will be fated to meet again as he has her precious watch. During this, we see that Shiro is pretty good at going off on his own and kicking some ass!

Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage - The Lagoon Group is back but a pair of murdering kids that may or may not be vampires rampage Hotel Moscow, causing the crime lords of Roanapur to get together and organize a heated coalition. It doesn't work well and the creepy vampire kids kill some more people and make out and do other naughty things. Now there is a big bounty on their heads and Revy and Eda from the Church of Violence(my favorite kind of church) band together to take the kids out!

Cromartie High School - Good natured Kamiyama goes to the delinquent-filled Cromartie High School and ends up becoming the leader of his tough and rugged class. Then he tries to form pacts with the other tough students of his school, with Freddie Mercury, a gorilla, and a robot(that every else thinks is a real person) chief among them. And then they all hum. I did not properly describe the ridiculous of this show but it is awesome!

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - This movie that is totally directed by Mamoru Hosoda and created by Madhouse is incredibly fantastic and highly emotional. It shows what happens when a simple girl can go back through time to try to fix the little things in her life to make it better. But even the smallest changes come with a high price. We see things like jealousy develop amongst friends, would-be romances that will now never happen, and even public humiliation. Auntie Which said it best, one person's happiness is someone else's misery.

Anyways, that was our first meeting! Lots of fun was had! Make sure you check our schedule regularly!

Orlando Anime Day #3 Outing!

Orlando Anime Day is a one day anime marketplace that will have its next iteration on Saturday, January 22nd at Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort & Convention Center, located at 6375 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee, FL. It's about a 40 minute drive on the highway but it can be kind of a fun event, depending on how much you want to socialize.

So what happens there? The event is open from 10am to 6pm and lots of people show up in cosplay and hangout. There is a dealer room to buy stuff like dvds, toys, manga, t-shirts, import games, etc. and a viewing room to watch the latest anime. (It might be worth it to watch Level E or Beezelbub. I have a hunch.) That's really about it.

But there are hundreds of people that go. Young, impressionable anime fans that lack the guidance they need in this cruel world. We should totally socialize with them and talk to them about good anime and other things. Maybe we'll meet some people who can fit into our club as well!

I'll also be conducting that survey that we did at the last club meeting, so that we can get a better understanding of anime fans in the area.

It costs $3 to get in and only $1 if you have a canned food item. This is a cash only event but there will be ATMs at the convention center. An official carpool will meet at Full Sail University in front of building 3B and leave at 11am. Be there by then if you want a ride! RSVP on Facebook!

PAC Dodgeball Team Tryouts!

On February 5th, we are going emerge as supreme anime club of Orlando and annihilate Anime Spot in dodgeball Violence Jack style! This means we will either rape them and kill them, kill them and rape them, or eat them... while raping them! But before that, we need to select a team.

As coach, I will hold tryouts at Goldenrod Park on Sunday, January 16th at 2pm. Be there! We will need 9 players to make up the team. Tryouts will determine your endurance, strength, abilities to throw, catch, and dodge balls, and most of all... teamwork.

There will be drills and scrimmages to do this and by the end of tryouts, a team will be forged and we will train every weekend until the big game!

Tryouts will be at Goldenrod Park, located at 4863 N. Goldenrod Rd. Winter Park, FL. Try to be there on time, hydrated, and with proper workout attire. You can RSVP on Facebook!

GANTZ live action movie outing on January 20th!

GANTZ, the story of two friends that get killed by a subway train when they try to rescue a drunk hobo, only to be brought back to life and compete in missions that involve them wearing tight suits and fighting aliens for points, is being made into two movies! They're based on the popular manga and anime series and the first movie comes out in America for one night only on January 20th at 8pm!

This will be a club outing and you will be responsible for getting your own tickets, unless you were one of the two who won them at the last meeting of 2010! The theater we will see the movie at is Regal Waterford Lakes Stadium 20 at 541 N. Alafaya Trl in Orlando!

You can order tickets on Fandango. Also, VIZ has a contest going on until January 11th, You can try winning a free ticket that way!

First Meeting of 2011 on Sunday, January 9th!

Welcome to 2011, anime fans! I hope you all had a very nice break since the final meeting we had last year. It's a bright new day for the Propeller Anime Club and we will continue to get together and watch some great animation from Japan!

Our first meeting of the year will be on Sunday, January 9th at 1pm at Full Sail University in FS3F-111 in building 3F. (You can view the layout here.) It will be a fresh start for everyone, whether you are attending your first meeting or happen to be a club veteran. What does that mean? That means we are starting each series from the first episode!

First up for the first quarter of 2011, we will be showing mecha war drama Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team. The series takes place during the One Year War in which the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon are fighting a brutal guerrilla war for control of the jungles of Southeast Asia and its resources. In addition to the giant robot battles, there will also be a forbidden romance between an Earth Federation soldier and the daughter of a Zeon noble family.

Next up is Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage. This is the sequel to the original Black Lagoon we watched last fall. The series features the missions of a mercenary group that include a psychotic dual gun wielding she-devil and a timid Japanese salaryman turned badass. There will be lots of of shooting, cursing, and explosions. Oh, and their next mission will be taking on twin assassins that may be vampires!

Our third series will be Cromartie High School, a comedy about the daily life of an above average student and his oddball delinquent classmates that not only feature some of the toughest, meanest high school thugs in all of Japan, but also a gorilla, a robot - that nobody in the series realizes in a robot, even though it is obvious - and a mute beefcake that has an uncanny resemblance to Freddie Mercury! The series is episodic and features a lot of tough guy humor.

Our feature for the meeting will be The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, directed by the acclaimed Mamoru Hosoda(Summer Wars). When Makoto Kanno fatefully gets the ability to travel back in time by leaping, she uses those powers to make her life a more fun one by changing small events in her life that she wish would have gone differently. When she discovers the limits of her powers and what serious affects the changes she makes in the past have, she has to make a hard choice that may result in the loss of true happiness.

A lot of great stuff is planned and we hope you can make it out, whether you are a veteran member or a potential new member who wants to watch cool anime with new friends! See you all this Sunday!

Hey anime fans! Happy Holidays from the greatest anime club in the galaxy! We hope you stay warm with some good anime and get some more as presents this Christmas!

Speaking of presents, did you know that RightStuf has a super sweet Christmas sale that ends this Friday!? It's not too late to get some last minute presents! All items listed from all twelve days are fair game and there is literally something for everyone and then some! If you can't find something you like, well, I really don't know what to say!

From that sale, I recommend Samurai Champloo, Eden of the East, Dead Leaves, Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Collection, Those Who Hunt Elves, Tylor, Irresponsible Captain TV, Halo Legends(yes, really), and the first Dragonball Z Dragon Box! There are some other things that might be worth looking into as well!

Don't want to spend money and would prefer to watch anime for free? That's cool, check out all of the original Mobile Suit Gundam on streaming services. It's still pretty cool and knowledge of that series earns you instant street cred as an anime fan.

It also helps because we'll be bringing REAL GUNDAM to Propeller Anime Club meetings this upcoming quarter. That's right; starting on January 9th, we will be showing mecha war drama Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team! But that's not all! We'll also have manly comedy Cromartie High School and the return of psychotic gunslinger Revy in Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage!

We have a lot of great stuff planned when we get back together next year. Cool anime, great movies, and fun outings! Until then, enjoy your holiday!

Recap of the Final Meeting of 2010! Farewell to a Grand Year!

Man, last night was quite the way to end the Propeller Anime Club's meetings for 2010! In true fashion, we had to find a new room yet again, and we also had a casualty in lacking Sword of the Stranger to show!

However, we were lucky to have seen instead Trava Fist Planet, four animated shorts directed by Takeshi Koike, set in the same universe as the recently released Redline! In addition to Trava Fist Planet and Redline, Koike has notable credits as Key Animator in Dead Leaves and Animatrix's World Record. Trava Fist Planet was light on plot but heavy on style and action. Needless to say, it's a nice warm-up for Redline.

We also finished Bastard!!, which pretty much ended like any big battle in Dragonball Z. There was plenty of monologuing and bigass energy attacks and explosions. Luckily the characters have a little more personality, but you've got to wonder about Dark Schneider and his insatiable lust for the ladies. Granted, he's not humping toilets like Kentaro from Golden Boy, but we're all pretty sure that after the fact he will try to get some action with his own daughter. Yup.

And then there was Tokyo Godfathers! What a fun way to end the final club meeting! Leave it to Satoshi Kon to turn the homeless that society looks down upon or ignores into heroes of Christmas. With that, we have seen all four of his movies. Unfortunately, he passed away in August with Dream Machine unfinished. I'm glad that we were able to enjoy his films this year.

I do want to shed some news before I give my final words of the year. We had a raffle with two tickets to the live-action film showing of Gantz on January 20th. I want to give congratulations to Althea and Izzy for winning those!

We also had a flyer and t-shirt design contest. Erik B., Jean Louis, and Izzy entered those! Jean-Louis did win both contest but Erik and Izzy gave an impressive showing as well! We will use part of Izzy's t-shirt design for the back of the flyers we'll make because it's pretty cool. Good job, guys!

Next year will be pretty awesome! At the end of the meeting, we picked our series and features for the first quarter of 2011. After finally doing club democracy correctly, we ended choosing Cromartie High, Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, and Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th M.S. Team! So we have a manly comedy, a crazy chick with guns, and epic war drama with mecha; that sounds like a winning team to me!

This past year has been crazy. We've seen a lot of cool anime and have leveled up considerably as fans! We've had some great hangouts, we've made friends and lost some along the way. We've even shown some duds at meetings. Nothing is perfect and this past year has been a very good learning experience for me. Hopefully, lessons learned and some time to rest will make for an even better club experience next year!

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for attending the meetings and gatherings we've had and supporting the club with great excitement. While there were some rough bumps this year, I think how we finished last night has really shown how well we have done as an anime club. I truly think we set the bar of what other anime clubs should try to achieve and I want us to keep doing that.

Final Anime Club Meeting of the Year on Sunday, December 12th!

Last meeting was definitely fun and had some unexpected happenings! We actually ended up finishing both Golden Boy and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, leaving Bastard!! as the only series left to wrap up this final meeting of the year! A lot of fun has been had, and with finals in progress and holiday travels coming up, it will be time to say our goodbyes until next year.

The final Propeller Anime Club meeting of 2010 will be Sunday, December 12th at 4:00pm in FS3B-112 of Building 3B at Full Sail University. There are no classrooms open from 1pm. unfortunately.

It's later than usual, so I will bribe you all with raffle tickets! Everyone who shows up gets a ticket and two will be drawn. Both winners will recieve a movie theater ticket to the live-action film screening of Gantz on Thursday, January 20th at 8:00pm at Regal Waterford Stadium 20! That is awesome!

In addition to finishing Bastard!!, we will have a double feature. That would be Sword of the Stranger, which we did not get to show last time, and the late Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers. We've seen Perfect Blue, Paprika, and Millenium Actress this year, thus making it the perfect way to end our 2010!

That last part is important. Because of last meeting's unexpected ending due to the crazy December schedule of Full Sail University, we never got around to our contests, so they will be extended to this final meeting. Recap of today's meeting! 12/5/10 edition!

Let's try a simpler recap! This meeting was fun, though there were a couple hiccups! Here are the notes!

It turns out classes are being schedule on Sundays at Full Sail this month. This will make finding room space even more difficult!

We had to move to a different room for this reason.

This also means that we never got to see Sword of the Stranger or handle the contests we have been discussing.

Sword of the Stranger and the contests will be on our final meeting of December 12th.
That debate event I want to try will be pushed back to January.

Meeting room and time for the final meeting to be determined. If it comes down to it, my place will be used!
Golden Boy and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure are finished! Both ended in a very awesome way!

Golden Boy was VERY educational! Students learned the importance of networking in the final episode, among other things!

In Bastard!!, Dark Schneider became for broken than Shin Akuma and Omega Rugal put together and beat Ninja Master Gara.
Enzian Theater is trying to get Summer Wars but it won't be shown this month or in January. Hopefully in February!
Orlando Anime Day will happen again on January 22nd. It's a small dealers' room and a video room but they might have some cool stuff to buy! It's on 3 bucks to get in!
We'll be Ice Skating with Anime Spot at Light Up UCF on Saturday. If you are able to make it out, meet at Full Sail in front of Building 3B at 5:30pm and we can carpool from there!

Okay, one more meeting this year. It will be on December 12th, either at Full Sail or my place! Stay tuned!

The next meeting of Propeller Anime Club will be on Sunday, December 5th in FS3B-130 at Full Sail University! That room is on the opposite end of FS3B-113, where we noticed that someone got marker on the projector screen. Meeting time will be at 1:00 pm!

We've watched a lot of the essential classic anime movies this past year and many of you who have attended meetings regularly have leveled up considerably as anime fans! Now, we show some of the best of the new school in anime. We actually went on a field trip to see this at a movie theater long ago. Our feature will be Sword of the Stranger, a super-slick samurai action film.

The story is about a nameless samurai who refuses to kill again happening upon a young boy that is needing a bodyguard from assassins sent by the Ming dynasty. One of those assassins is Luo-Lang, a blonde European raised and trained as a ruthless eastern swordsman who craves fighting equally strong enemies so that he may get stronger. As the Ming dynasty tries to capture the young boy, Kotaro, the nameless samurai and Luo-Lang will clash!

Another exciting aspect of the meeting will be the results of the T-shirt contest and the flyer contest! That's right, entries will be due on this meeting and we will pick the respective winners! Remember, this is your chance to step up and make the club even more awesome and win Japanese dinner on me! Make sure you are at the meeting around 4:00pm so you can have a say!

So what else is there!? We finish Golden Boy! We've seen Kintaro solve problems and fight injustices while getting himself in trouble due to his insatiable lust for the female flesh. How will his story end?

In Bastard!!, Dark Schneider takes on Ninja Master Gara to rescue the lovely - and currently very naked - Yoko! Dark Scheider is able to weird the fire sword of Efreet and Gara is a REAL ninja. Oh snap!

Last, but certainly not least, Jotaro Kujo and the rest of the gang from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure finally make their way to Dio Brando's lair. They've gone through so many assassins and other obstacles. Now it's time to see if they can take on the deadliest and most fabulous vampire of them all!

As a bonus, the second of the two episodes we'll be showing is directed by the legendary Satoshi Kon! It's an early job of his, however, there will be a scene that you'll know is his for sure! Be on the lookout for it!

Hey gang! Some of you may know about my various anime gigs in Orlando. One is "Kanpai, Anime!", an anime night at the local sake and tea lounge known as Tatame Lounge. It's about 15 minutes away from Full Sail University and near Rollins College! Perhaps their anime club will come out and show courage to do battle against us in dodgeball! (They have been challenged...)

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Jotaro and Iggy teamed up to take out Geb, the blind stand user who can track by sound and kill with water! It was very intense!
Then they challenged Darby the Gambler, whose stand takes souls of those he beats in games of chance.
After taking Polnaref and Joseph's souls, Darby challenges the mighty Jotaro who deals the MANLIEST bluff, puts everything on the line(including his mother's soul), and owns Darby!
Where'd Jotaro get DAT JUICE!?
They see DIO next time and things start to get FABULOUS!

Golden Boy

Kintaro wrecked a shady dude with some Kenpo he spent a week learning. Might have to do with the corkscrew kiss he gave Kintaro...
Series is episodic, however, Golden Boy taught us to never swim close to the sun!
We finish Golden Boy next time!

Bastard!!

POWERFUL wizard Dark Scheider was sealed into the body of a little boy and can only be unsealed and sealed again with the kiss of a virgin girl.
Dark Schneider owns the first of the Four Lords of Havok and then gets naked and takes on fire elemental Efreet and shows him what for as well.
Dark Scheider's love interest, Yoko, was kidnapped by a ninja master named Gara who does not carry around sand or listen to Linkin Park. Instead, he uses slime to dissolve her clothes. It's for the lulz.

Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise

Our feature is definitely more beautiful than ever on BluRay and possibly the greatest contribution to anime Gainax has ever made!
Club dug the movie. Great discussions on the attempted rape scene(did it belong in the movie or was it there to illustrate the weakness humans give in to?) and the featuring the escape from the assasssin disguised as a hobo!
That spider toy Manna had was awesome too!
Anime World Order goes into great detail on the movie and the former scene we disussed and their thought on it. It's pretty interesting commentary.

Overall, we saw a well-animated piece that featured incredible world building, along with strong commentary on politics, religion, and economic crisis provided as a backdrop to an unexpected hero who goes from a slacker to a man determined to launch into both space and history books.

The next Propeller Anime Club meeting will be on Sunday, November 21st at 1pm in FS3B-113 at Full Sail University! This meeting will be most exciting because a mostly overlooked classic will be our feature! Not only that, but we start another short OVA series while continuing some others!

I didn't do a recap for the last meeting but fun was had! We finished Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and nobody laughed that time! Not only that, we ventured from the 2000 OVA of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to the 1993 one, and it was awesome!

Next meeting, our feature will be Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise! This is actually the first commercial work of Gainax and perhaps their greatest. It is set in an alternate world during a space race starring an unmotivated young man who is billed as a hero when he becomes the next candidate astronaut to be sent into space. (All others have died.) Here's a good trailer!

The animation is beautiful and a lot of attention is put into building the unique world this movie takes place in. Moreover, many of the things done in the movie have never been done before in anime and have yet to be duplicated.

It's almost hard to believe that a lot of the work done on this movie was done by college students and recent graduates who got funding because they made an animated short for science fiction convention in Japan. With that said, this movie will be shown as a means to inspire many of you who are students right now because it is never too early to make something awesome!

What else are we showing? We'll continue Golden Boy, the story of a young man who is a genius that travels Japan solving critical problems on his journeys as a student of life. He'll get into trouble many times since he is a pervert and there will be fanservice, but not of 12 year old girls like you would see in modern anime. If you missed it last meeting, do not worry because the show is very episodic and you don't even need to see the first episode to get any of the others.

Also, we will be showing Jojo's Bizarre Adventure!!!!! Why all the exclamation points, you wonder? Well, we get to see Jotaro and Iggy - who is a dog AND a powerful stand user - team up to take on Geb, the latest of obstacles set by Dio. But that is not all! The episode after that has one of the MANLIEST moments in all of anime. Everyone MUST see it! You can bet your life that it will be awesome.

Last but not least is the final new series we will show this year, Bastard!! It's a dark fantasy tale about a strong wizard who was sealed in the body of a 14 year old boy who is unsealed to fight the Four Lords of Havok that he once led! The wizard Dark Schneider is such a pimp and a badass that it's hard to believe that this anime was based on a Shonen Jump manga.

The next Propeller Anime Club meeting will be on SATURDAY, November 6th at 1pm in FS3B-113(Building 3B) of Full Sail University! The following Sunday will be when we go on our field trip to Orlando Japan Festival!

Our feature showing will be Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis, directed by protege Rintaro. Osamu Tezuka has brought the world Astro Boy, Jungle Emperor Leo, Black Jack, and much more! He has passed on more than 20 years ago but his birthday is on November 3rd so this is how we will honor his legacy!

We'll be finishing Tokyo Magnitude 8.0! Marai has to come to terms with the death of her brother in the wake of her city being destoyed by a massive earthquake. Where will she go from here? Hopefully, there will be some shining in the darkness once this is all over.

We'll be crossing the halfway point of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as the party FINALLY makes it into Egypt. The final episode of the 2000 OVA will be shown and then we shall continue the story with the first episode of the 1993 OVA. Yes, you read that right! The second half of the story was animated first!

For those not keeping score, fabulous vampire Dio Brando has taken the body of former badass Jonathan Joestar and his descendants Joseph Joestar and Jotaro Kujo vow to take him down. They have to anyways, or else Jotaro's mom will die! Also, 1993 is BIZARRE. They do not mess around in that one. You will see how much an anime adaption can change with a completely different staff.

NEW ANIME TIME!

Our club has desperately needed a comedy for quite some time! The problem is, it's hard to find one that's funny that doesn't use the same 2-3 jokes in cycle or have it's humor based on otaku pandering. With that said, Golden Boy is an anime that is timelessly funny! You game development guys will love the first episode. It's about hot chicks doing what you do!

We need to show the world that Propeller Anime Club that we are AWESOME! Whether it is at a convention, at school, the arcade, or if you are me... THE STREETS! So we need cool t-shirts and flyers!

Alas, I have no artistic talent. However, many of you do! So this is your chance to shine and take the club to new levels of LEGENDARY or something.

Design imagery that can be put on a t-shirt that we can order and wear! It has to let people know that we are the Propeller Anime Club and that we are AWESOME!

Submission Guidelines

Images must be submitted in the form of both a .PNG file and the original Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator format.
Image sizes must be at least 2000 by 2000.
Keep in mind that the design could end up on a shirt that will be either black, white, navy blue, or grey. But not something obnoxious.
Front design is mandatory. Back design is optional.
Original anime-inspired art is cool. Please don't used copywritten characters.
Designs due on Sunday, December 5th! (A club meeting day!)
Don't get butthurt if your design doesn't get chosen.

Flyer Contest
We need flyers to give out at events like MegaCon and "Kanpai, Anime!", but especially when we crush all the other clubs at dodgeball! I will order them from ClubFlyers.com in a medium 4x5 flyer size.

You must adhere to the guidelines of ClubFlyer.com's 4x5 flyer policy and use their template.
5x4 flyers are also cool.
Make sure everything you want in the flyer makes it within the cut line of the template.
If you import the template, make sure that the file is 300 dpi.

Recap of the last meeting! 10/24/10 edition!

Sorry for the late recap of the last meeting! For those who are new, I put in notes of what happened at the last meeting to let you know what you missed! This includes club news and what we watched! Black Lagoon was a thrill ride of multiple proportions and we have finished the first series! Revy is definitely one of the hottest anime ladies ever!

We'll start the second series at the beginning on January. For the time being, we'll watch things that can be finished by the time this year ends!

NEWS

The 4th Year Anniversary party of the Propeller Anime Club took place on Saturday and it was FANTASTIC! Pictures will come, but there was lots of fun with plenty of sweets! An intense Twister tournament took place and the winner was Landen, a new member of the club! Give him a warm welcome! We also watched Wicked City. It was AMAZING! And then we went to Rocky's Replay and Steak n Shake! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped out!
I also gave out cool prizes, highlighted our awesome year together, and announced upcoming club events such as...
Orlando Japan Festival on November 7th at the Village at Hunter's Creek in west Orlando! Details about the trip can be found here!
Rocky Horror Picture Show trip on November 13th! The shadowcast will be at Universal Citywalk's movie theater that night!
We have challenged Anime Spot to dodgeball and we will crush them! But we have to challenge Anime Sushi and that anime club at Rollins College first, so we can crush them all AT THE SAME TIME!
In addition to crushing Anime Spot in dodgeball, we will also be ice skating with them in Decemeber during Light up UCF. It's a winter event their school has and it sounds like fun!
It's time to do the Ninja Olympics again, but we take it to the ~~streets~~ park. That will be in January.
Ultimate Gaming Showdown 4 was announced as happening in the future. Details to come!

There will be two contests on going. One for a club t-shirt design, and another for a new flyer design. We gotta show everyone that WE'RE AWESOME! Details in next post!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Forget the Joestar family, Jean Pierre Polnareff is the main character now! After he shed MANLY TEARS, he and Kakyoin escape certain death. Later, they find J. Geil and Polnareff enforces the second part of True Man Law #10! Then he hit on this hot chick Enya, who is one of Dio's highest servants and has TWO right hands as well. She is obviously J. Geil's mom and wants revenge. She has a stand called Justice, that can control people it puts holes through... like Hole Horse! Get it!?

Tokyo Magitude 8.0

So last time, Yuuki had to go to the hospital and Mirai had a dream that he died. This time, we find out that wasn't a dream and Mirai was talking to a brotherly figment of her imagination. Once she makes it back home, she can't block out his death forever. IT'S TOO BAD THAT STEVEN G. HAD TO LOL FOR REAL WHEN THAT PART HAPPENED. GOD DAMMIT!

We finish the series next time!

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva

Our feature starred Professor Layton and that audacious brat Luke as they solve puzzles to gain immortality. It was charming and beautifully animated and what was up with that one dude's chest hair!? Anyways, that was a cool movie. Someone liked it better than Wicked City too!

Four Years of Awesome Times! Thank You!

Yup! That is the first ever flyer for the Propeller Anime Club! Four years ago was the very first meeting the club ever had! We never actually showed Castle of Cagliostro that day because I could not acquire it in time and substituted Nausicaa of the Valley of The Wind instead. I also love the note about getting a club logo soon, because it took more than three years for our club to finally have one! Death Note was new at the time and half the people who came left after the first episode because they thought it was boring. I am sure Hot Topic would later change their minds! Great times indeed!

From my perspective, running Propeller Anime Club has been a really fun, learning experience. It all started from seeing students on the Full Sail forum wanting an anime club and at the time I was an instructor so I decided to found the club and be its faculty sponsor since anime has been a big part of my life.

The club has come along a very long way since 2006 and we've done a lot of awesome stuff since then and have shown a lot of cool anime! The club has stood as a place to hang out and watch some awesome Japanese cartoons and we've done pretty good in sticking to that!

There have been some challenges along the way. As the club gets bigger, it is certainly harder to keep track of all the members and learn all the new names. Finding awesome, must-see anime that will be interesting to the club has also gotten more difficult. Oh, and who can forget the problems I have with getting the A/V equipment to work every other meeting? (Even at the very first meeting, I had those problems!)

The last year has been especially interesting with a large focus on showing essential classics to the youngest generation of club members we've ever had! It's very awesome to see that anime of at least 20 years old can still be appreciated by the modern anime fan! We've also mixed in some excellent contemporary anime and over the past year and I think our palettes in anime preferences has expanded, wouldn't you say?

In the future, we'll continue to show awesome things at meetings and fun will alway be had! (Unless I want to make you depressed like that one time I sneak attacked with Grave of the Fireflies.)

Speaking of the future, we'll have many awesome events planned so we can all get to know each other better, create new friendships, strengthen existing ones, and make fun memories! Tomorrow, we shall celebrate our fourth year anniversary with fun, games, prizes, treats, and costumes! We'll also be watching a horror anime that is totally WICKED and may scar some of you for life! If you haven't been to a meeting in a while or at all, you are just as welcome to come as all our regular members! In fact, some of the members you will meet have joined on a past anniversary of the club!

In a couple weeks, we will be attending Orlando Japan Festival which will be lots of fun! Members have proposed some awesome event ideas and in the future, there will be dodgeball, Rocky Horror Picture Show, another hangout with Anime Spot, and perhaps a version of the Ninja Olympics that takes place outside of a convention! Needless to say, there is a fun-filled future for the club.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank everyone who has been a part of the club and has supported it over the last four years. I can say with full confidence that we define what an anime club should be. It's been a blast for me and it would not be possible without you guys being involved!

As you know, this Saturday night, we are celebrating the fourth year anniversary of the Propeller Anime Club's founding! (RSVP here!) But the day after, we shall be going to have a regular meeting where awesome anime is watched as usual! Looks like we'll be in FS3B-113 at Full Sail University this Sunday at 1:00pm!

Our feature this time will be Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva! It will be much like the popular video games even down to the whimiscal characters, music, and puzzles! (Or, so I read.) The art for the games have always looked cool so the movie should as well!

Also! Black Lagoon will be FINISHED this Sunday! Yeah, there is a second series, but we'll save that for the beginning of next year! Expect lots of shooting, cussing, and hotness from Revy!

Last time in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Avdol got capped in the head and Polnareff shed MANLY TEARS! True Man Law #10 will be enforced all the way! But what will be faster: Silver Chariot's sword or The Hanged Man's light?

As we approach the end of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, real tragedy strikes our main characters on all fronts. Bring tissues.

Recap of the last meeting! Binary edition!

10/10/10 was this past Sunday! In binary, that is 42, the answer to the secret of the universe! With that, it was definitely time to pop many Lupin cherries with Lupin III: The Last Job! That was a fun adventure with Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko, and the lovable Zenigata! And those ninjas were pretty rad, especially the ninja dog!

NEWS:

EXPCon has come and gone! Nobody in the club went so it is hard to confirm how it good it was!
Our fourth year anniversary is coming up soon and we will have a party to celebrate! RSVP here!
The next Anime Festival Orlando will be August 4th-7th, 2011!
Speaking of festivals, we will be having a field trip to west Orlando for the Orlando Japan Festival on November 7th! Details here!
Jay and Silent Bob are doing a live podcast in Orlando on Wednesday, March 30th at the Hard Rock Live Orlando! That's right after MegaCon!
We will be challenging all other anime clubs in Orlando for supremacy, in a dodgeball tournament! Details to come!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

The gang try flying a plane but it crashes because Joseph Joestar was on it. (It's funny if you read the Part 2 of the manga.)
Then they go ON A BOAT! And the boat is a stand! And the stand user is an orangatang! MADNESS!
The crew meets Jean Pierre Polnareff, a Frenchman who inspired Benimaru's character design in The King of Fighters and has a stand called Silver Chariot.
Polnareff joins the crew after Advol owns him hard. From now on, everything terrible in the series will happen to him because he's French.
They make it to India where everyone is poor and Polnareff leaves to find the killer of his sister. (He has two right hands due to family in-breeding!)
Avdol gets capped in the head by a classy stand user named Hol Horse. Polnareff cried manly tears. EVERYONE in this club should know what that means for next time!

The fourth year anniversary club part will be on Saturday, October 23rd! Please come out whether you are new to the club, been gone a while, or just a friend of ours! We'd love to see everyone!

Next Propeller Anime Club meeting on Sunday, October 10th!

Next club meeting will be on Sunday, October 10th at 1:00pm at Full Sail University! Since there will be an open house on campus, we shall go into hiding at FS3F-112, in the building closest to Wendy's and Winghouse. It's made of bricks.

Our feature showing will be the much talked about television special that aired in Japan earlier that year, Lupin III: The Last Job! I haven't seen it yet but Lupin and his usual friends are trying to steal a treasure. (I'm just as surprised as you are!) But so are ninjas! Zenigata, the inspector that always tries to capture Lupin, may or may not have been killed by said ninjas. It's Lupin III so chances of it being awesome are pretty high!

In addition, we'll be showing episodes 3 and 4 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. With his mother's life on the line, Jotaro Kujo and his grandfather Joseph Joestar, along with Advol and Kakyoin head to Egypt to kill the vampire Dio Brando, who not only has the body of ancestor Jonathan Joestar, but is the root of the deadly illness Jotaro's mother faces!

The trip will not go as planned and the party will learn that enemy stands can do just about anything and wielded by just about anyone. (Well, anyone that can posses stands.) The series will soon live up to its name as a bizarre adventure!

In Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, we'll be showing episodes 7 and 8! Remember those rescue robots in episode 1? Good! Also, it looks the trip so far will take a massive toll on one of the three main characters that are trying to make it back home. Will someone die!? (Actually, I don't know yet.)

In episodes 9 and 10 of Black Lagoon, Revy will swear a lot and shoot people! Actually, they were delivering a package in the form of a child of a wealthy family to be sold to a Colombian cartel. Except Roberta, the family's maid who's actually a KILLER SUPER SOLDIER ASSASSIN CHICK, will have something to say about that!

Lots of excitement to look forward to! Hope to see you all on the 10th!

Yesterday's meeting was fun and we even ended it with an unexpected trip to Steak n Shake! It was grossly delicious!

The 4th Year Propeller Anime Club party will be on Saturday, October 23rd at night! A time and location will be announced! But the plan is to dress up in costume(optional), enjoy sweets and snacks, watch a horror anime, and then go to Rocky's Replay! Fantastic!

Black Lagoon

In Black Lagoon, Rock and Revy have a crazy lovers quarrel of sorts. It gets very deep, and Rock almost gets shot in the head. He seriously manned up.
The Lagoon Company is transporting a kidnapped boy to a Colombian cartel. The boy is the son of a sorta wealthy South American family. The family has sent their maid, Roberta, to rescue him and kill lots of people. Yeah, she's that kind of maid!

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

In Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Mirai, Yuki, and Mari take shelter at Mirai's school, where they witness several people who have lost love ones during the disaster. There are more aftershocks but nothing serious.
The next day, Mari starts freaking out when news breaks out that her neighborhood is on fire. Fearful of her daughter's fate, she collapses. After she wakes up, the group goes back on their journey.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure began! We are introduced to the Joestar bloodline, starting off with Jonathan Joestar being killed by the vampire head of Dio Brando early on. 100 years later, his great, great grandson Jotaro Kujo has decided to stay in jail because he is haunted by an evil spirit who violently beats up people while yelling out ORAORAORAORAORA!
Jotaro's grandfather and designated badass Joseph Joestar visits him and explains that the evil spirit is a Stand, a semi-physical spiritual manifestation of one's power. After Magician's Red stand user Avdol tricks Jotaro in leaving his cell, Joseph explains that they must kill Dio once and for all, as he has returned and taken Jonathan Joestar's body as his own!
In the next episode, Jotaro meets the first of Dio's assassins, Noriyaki Kakyoin. (He is supposed to be the bishonen in the manga but they is not reflected in the anime!)
After going Kenshiro on his ass, Jotaro and his group discover that Kakyoin was unwillingly under Dio's control. Once they save him, Kakyoin joins their group and they head on their bizarre adventure to Egypt to kill Dio, but not before Avdol names Jotaro's stand Star Platinum.

Evangelion 2.22

Our feature was Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance. Some cool robot vs monster fights happened and it looked very awesome! High quality animation for sure! They also introduced a new Eva pilot named Mari whose function is to sell toys and statues to creepy otaku in Akihabara so that the third and fourth Rebuild movies can be made.
In addition, Shinji and Rei secretly love each other! And Unit 01 has a halo over its head when it goes berserk!
Third Impact has also started! That wasn't in the television series!

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, October 10th! Our main feature will be Lupin III: The Last Job! Hope to see you there!

The next meeting of the Propeller Anime Club, if I do not die or end up in jail during my trip to Anime Weekend Atlanta, will be on Sunday, September 26th at 1pm in FS3F-112 at Full Sail University. That room was not bad at all so let's do it there again!

As you may know, last meeting, we decided to send Samurai 7 to the graveyard. In it's place is the start of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure! It's based on Part 3 of the Shonen Jump manga series, Stardust Crusaders. This is where the series gains it's own identity as it introduces stands, the pychic manifestation of a person's power. They can do all sorts of things and not all stands are used for fighting.

The plot goes roughly like this: Dio Brando, the century-long enemy of the Joestar family, is back and he has taken Jonathan Joestar's body! (Jonathan is the first hero of Part 1 and used special martial arts to fight the undead, before that got played out.) With this, he acquires the stand known as "The World" and triggers the appearance of stands for every member of the Joestar bloodline! Josef Joestar, the hero of Part 2 and designated bad mofo will take his grandson Jotaro Kujo on a adventure from Japan to Egypt to kill Dio once and for all! And it will be bizarre!

We'll be starting the series from episodes 1 and 2 of the 2000 OVA! In addition, we will show episodes 7 & 8 of Black Lagoon and episodes 5 and 6 of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0.

Our main feature will be Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance. We watched the first movie a long time ago and now we get to see the second one! It goes in a completely different direction than the original series. Everything you thought you knew about Eva will change!
